Another thread got me thinking... what's the best IPA brewed in Iowa? I really like Confluence's Des Moines IPA.

Des Moines IPA is great - definitely a go to at the bars.

Love me some Zeelander. Haven't been to 515 in a while but have heard they have some great stuff - OJ IPA was solid last time I tried it.

I liked Confluence JME more than Des Moines IPA. Also 515 OJ IPA was pretty good as well.

No wrong answers here, but I think you answered the question yourself. DSM IPA is my go to. The Beck's Black IPA is great as well. When it's on tap, Dart Dodger from 515 is pretty good too. In fact, 515 has a pretty good lineup of IPAs with a good variety.

A few non-Toppling Goliath ones that are great:
OJ IPA - 515
Helix IPA - Alluvial
Mr. Hoppy Pants (Double IPA) - Pulpit Rock

Keg Creek IPA is a solid one, but I am probably a little biased because it is local.

Sorry to be nit-picky, but Pseudo is an American Pale Ale. They're a little different than IPAs. Very, very good beer, just not an IPA.

Ironically, I'm on my way back from a few weeks in India and no one there has even heard of an India Pale Ale!

You're right. Apologies. I'll take Tropical Burn as the winner then ;)

But, to get even MORE pedantic, the BJCP lists the IBU range on an APA as 30-45 and IPA as 40-70. Psuedo has an IBU of 50 which, to me, puts it as an IPA even if they call it an APA.

I think the Des Moines IPA has gone a little downhill recently. When’s it good, it’s very good, but I’ve had it at a few places where it tasted flat and lacked bitterness. Not consistent enough for me.

My answers would be the No Coast/No Coast Grapefruit IPA from Peace Tree with honorable mentions of Madhouse Hopburst and Firetrucker Tropical Burn. I will admit I need to start trying more though.
