Not many surprises other than maybe Kysen but 25 was always going to be a ***** to seed.

Things I like:
  • Kysen's potential redemption against Teske in the quarters, and then Lamont in the semis who hasn't wrestled much this year
  • Ramazan against March (he won't get caught again)
  • Degen's path to the finals
  • Judge getting Hall in the quarters instead of Yant or O'Toole
  • Yonger on the opposite side of Woodley and Sloan
Things I don't love:
  • Parker vs Hart semi
  • Coleman vs Keegan Moore quarters (but I think Marcus wins)
  • Yonger vs Rocky quarter

Beat me to it. I was just going to post their paths.

I actually wish Kysen were on the top half with Cardinale and Mastro, but either side is doable.
I like Ramazan getting to the semis.
I don't like Parker's draw, but Hart is beatable and could be dealing with injury. Degen and Carr are great.
I like Judge's draw as well getting Hall who he has shown he can go with. Couldn't ask for a better opportunity.
Devine gets another Iowa kid in DeVos as the 2. Have to think he thinks he can win that match against another fellow 3a kid.
Don't like Keegan as the 7 seed for Coleman, but like Geer as the 4.
Yonger - 197 is loaded. Goes through Elam then Buchanan then Sloan/Woodley. If he can run the table, he will be seeded high for Nationals.

I bet Mocco makes the finals at 174 from the bottom side. Can't believe he was the 6 seed. He might bet the best 174 in the big 12.

Who wants to figure team scores based on preseeds?
I think that is a little tricky because some seeded wrestlers will get byes into the quarters and some will have a 1st round match, thus having a chance to gain an additional advancement point (and possible bonus points).

That said, I will try to calculate from the quarter finals onward (i.e. ignoring any points in the 1st round). Also, I won't include bonus points.

Championship Advancement = 1 / Consolation Advancement = 0.5
1st = 16 / 2nd = 12 / 3rd = 10 / 4th = 9 / 5th = 7 / 6th = 6 / 7th = 4 / 8th = 3

All this comes out to:

1 OSU 109.5
2 ISU 107.5
3 MIZ 93.5
4 UNI 85
5 SDSU 79
6 OU 64.5
7 WYO 60.5
8 NDSU 60.5
9 WVU 40
10 UVU 28
11 UNC 24
12 AF 18

Looks pretty tight at the top...

Another thing I like as far as team points go: Franek and Thomas on the opposite side of Carr. David should bonus his way to the finals, but always (for some reason) has close matches with Thomas and Franek is just a solid wrestler.
