If KC took over for the next 4-8 years, it would be the best decision Big12 wrestling has ever made. Cyclone fans would pack the house along with Missouri and UNI fans for icing on the cake. Would make for a loud and fun atmosphere.
Everything I’ve been told is that John Smith will make that very difficult to accomplish.

John Smith can EABD.

(JM I realize you are just the messenger and from what I know, I agree with your comment)

John Smith can choke on a BD.

I understand they aren't tied together and I lnow it happens from time to time but it kind of sucks that Teske didn't qualify a spot but yet is seeded into one. The good news is that KT controls his own destiny and there's nobody in that bracket he can't beat.

Are brackets going to be released?

Probably some time tomorrow.

Since the draw is done secretly, I fully expect OSU to end up with the most first-round matches (and therefore bonus-point chances) again.

This is such a ******* joke.

If you look at last year's brackets, it's almost impossible for the draw to turn out the way it did both in favor of OSU and against OU.

Every seeded wrestler has a 50/50 shot of a first-round match.

OSU: 9 seeds, 8 matches (89%) = 17 points (8 wins + 9 bonus)
--------------
WYO: 8 seeds, 5 matches (63%) = 6 points
AF: 8 seeds, 5 matches (63%) = 4.5 points
UVU: 5 seeds, 3 matches (60%) = 4 points
WVU: 5 seeds, 3 matches (60%) = 2 points
ISU: 9 seeds, 5 matches (56%) = 5 points
UNI: 6 seeds, 3 matches (50%) = 6.5 points
UNC: 6 seeds, 3 matches (50%) = 3.5 points
--------------

SDSU: 8 seeds, 2 matches (25%) = 1 point
NDSU: 6 seeds, 1 match (17%) = 2 points
OU: 8 seeds, 1 match (12%) = 1 point
FSU: 2 seeds, 0 matches (0%) = 0 points

I remember this. It is beyond a joke and John Smith is a candy ass. It looks more like a child throwing a temper tantrum demanding things be done his way.

John Smith has control of the Big 12. I think they bid for Big 12's and nobody can ever compete with Tulsa. I feel there is some behind the scenes financial dealing that is keeping it in Tulsa.

I know Dresser said they tried to get it to Sioux City, Sioux Falls or Omaha area and couldn't compete with Tulsa financially.

Most people do like Tulsa though. But it is pretty convenient for Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Byes should aways go to #1 and #2 seed. Or definitely something different than the past, because it was heavily in favor of Ok State. They may not want the extra matches this year with the way they are wrestling and the injuries!!!

Explain to me how the other coaches allow Okie st to get away with loading up on bonus points like that? There is no way it is a "blind" draw the way they rig it for themselves.........

Correct, and if you win your next match then you should earn bonus pts from the bye.

If you start fixing bye spots, then you also have to adjust team scoring rules (i.e., no bonus points awarded in round 1).

It's already done this way. First-round advancement points are given to quarterfinal winners who had first-round byes.

Either that or take number of bye divided by number of teams & that is how many each team is allowed & draw that. Might not work if you have a real crappy team & not many higher seeds

So really, this is not so much about the system being rigged as failure of ISU to get bonus points and OSU getting bonus.

It's about the appearance of impropriety that ended up with OSU getting inordinately more chances at bonus points right out of the gate than OU or ISU.

7 #1 seeds had a first-round match. Fix (OSU), Lewallen (OSU), and Wittlake (OSU) all did. Carr (ISU) and Parker (ISU) did not.
8 #2 seeds had a first-round match. Demas (OU) and Thomas (OU) were the only ones who didn't.
5 #3 seeds had a first-round match. Mastrogiovanni (OSU), Plott (OSU), and Geer (OSU) did. Moore (OU) did not.

To me, it looks like something that can just happen with random chance. OSU got 3 more matches (8-5) than ISU. That doesn’t seem outrageous to me. Some teams are bound to get more, and some less. That is how randomness works.

The big takeaway for me is that OSU got bonus and ISU did not.
