I haven’t read nearly enough about College Football Playoff contender the Kansas State University Wildcats. Can we get some more posts about them? My Power Towel is ready to go this fall.

Weird post. The topic is B12 football news. Baylor, OU, and oSu are all ranked top-20 by Athlon, while K-State and Texas are in the also-ran's category. This seems to be a consistent theme early in the chattering period.

I can't help that the lead poster was triggered by all the K-State fanfare and changed the title midstream. That's his issue, not mine. The reality is that this thread was originally titled Big 12 Football News. It would be good to stick to that limited subject, methinks. Most of us are interested in news about B12 teams.

So do we think Kansas State gets the 1 or the 2 seed this year? If Georgia can get past Alabama, so can the Wildcats.
Silly boy, the wildcats will surely be in the conversation but their whereabouts in such a esteemed group are yet unknown. Alas, they deserve a seat at the table as our coach, which in case you have not yet heard or pondered, has National Championships under his thick midwestern leather belt. I really can’t be bothered with mindless chatter on such a weekend, though. I will retreat to my driveway, sip my Arnold Palmer and put on my favorite Matchbox 20 self curated mixed cassette tape. So long for now my cyclone friends from the north!

The K-State/OU season opener will give an early season preview on both squads and how the B12 might unfold. As usual, Iowa/Iowa State will give an early clue as to the Cyclone's worth, or not. Baylor and oSu are my personal favorites going in. Texas, most overrated.
Actually, the ISU/Iowa game during the Campbell years has not been a reliable bellwether at all for ISU.

We've played average to poor in each under Campbell. It's been a part of the larger "September Cyclone Syndrome (SCS)": poor Sept play and then lights out in October.

I think we spring the upset in Iowa City this Fall. We're way overdue.

Iowa State Record prediction: 7.5-4.7

What to expect: Talk about a missed opportunity. Last preseason, the Cyclones were the trendy pick to do something, coming in at No. 7 in the first Top 25 rankings. Then the losses mounted and the season was lost.

So much for that momentum Matt Campbell had going with all that returning talent. Iowa State now needs a new quarterback, tight end, running back, center, and most of a functioning defense. One positive: defensive end Will McDonald, Iowa State's sack leader, returns this fall.

FPI rates the Cyclones as a middle-tier team in the Big 12, just outside the national top 25, and a virtual lock to make a bowl game, but no longer in contention to win this conference.

Umm, two former N captains will be playing at QB and the other linebacker for K-State this fall, Iowa transfer at corner. All are pretty solid dudes. You clearly should stick to ISU comments.

Adrian has proven over and over and over that he will make a big mistake to lose a game way more often than he will make an average one to win.

Interesting.

ISU definitely returns more talent than the average Joe would think. Recruiting has been better the past few years as well, so we’ll see if that translates.
