Just because I have nowhere else to post this, but I feel the need to post it:

About 15 years ago, I was helping a friend of mine get ready for his garage sale. Among his low-priced wares were a variety of CDs, one of which was "Return of Bruno" by Bruce Willis. While I was picking it up with the intent of joyful mockery, I suddenly stumbled on Steven Seagal's "Songs From the Crystal Cave".

To this day, if he ever tries to give me **** about anything, I will bust out that trump card.

I have heard in the past that Bruce started out in porn. Does anybody know if this is actually true?

That sucks. Hope he's able to live a long normal life beyond acting.

Beyond his movies though, the Kevin Smith stories about working with Bruce Willis on die hard are fantastic.

A guy on the tv show House had Aphasia I think, that's the only reason I've heard of it. Can't vouch for the accuracy but on the show the guy thought he was talking and communicating normally but the words he was actually saying made no sense.

I have a girlfriend whose son was a preemie, and he has aphasia and apraxia, both of which are communication disorders. He most likely had a brain bleed at birth, which caused them. He is almost 13 and uses a tablet "talker."

Does it just happen instantaneously? I see that his retirement is effective immediately.

My mother suffered an episode of this just a few months ago when I was visiting her. She had been fine all morning. She came home from getting her hair done and was just fine. We got into her minivan to go grab some brunch at a local Cracker Barrel. While driving there (just 4 miles away) she was trying to comment on gas prices, but couldn't put the words together. She pointed at the sign and I finished her sentence for her, not thinking too much about it. We pulled into the parking lot, I went and put our name in and we walked back outside to sit and wait. We started to talk about extended family and she could not think of any names, including the name of my dead father's youngest brother whom she's known for over 60 years. I started to get concerned that maybe it was a stroke but I asked her to show me her teeth and to smile for me and she was able to do so with no problems. We went in and sat down to eat, and when it was time to order the waitress asked her how she wanted her eggs cooked. She couldn't think of the word "scrambled". This all lasted a total of maybe :20 minutes at the most. And suddenly, she was fine again, but she recognized that it had happened to her. The following day she had an appointment with her cardiologist who explained to her that she had likely had aphasia. She's not yet experienced another episode that we're aware of, but it was pretty jarring at the time.

Hudson Hawk is super high on my "This movie is pretty dumb, but I love it nonetheless" list. Just watched it not that long ago, too.

Same!!! One of the dumbest movies of all time, but I love it for some reason. I have a Hudson Hawk t-shirt that is my go to apparel for concerts. It is crazy how many comments I get on that 20 year old shirt.

I had a friend that experienced an episode like this. We had just left to go on a golf trip with him driving. He looks over at me and throws about 50 random words out that make no sense. We get him to pull over, thinking he is having a stroke and get him to a hospital that was less than a mile away. Doctors ruled out a stroke and eventually diagnosed him with the same disease most likely cause by a broken neck/brain injury he suffered a few years previous. He has had a few similar episodes since, but random and infrequent.

I commented to my wife having seen some of his more recent movies that something was clearly wrong with him. I subscribed to it must be the director's fault, but he wasn't the same. His speech was slurring and labored. My wife, being the aficionado, of Hollywood stuff hadn't heard anything. Then I saw another of his film where he was better. Then another labored one. I knew something was amiss several years ago. This is sad, but then again, he was the first 'hero' to actually get 'hurt' in his movies. Running across broken glass 'until' that point, no one got bloody. But not Bruce. And to persevere. Now there was a very cool 'good guy'.

The episode of Moonlighting where they re-enacted "The Taming of the Shrew" may be the most memorable episode of any TV show I have ever seen.

"Here's Petruccio!!"

Bruce was so good in so many movies.

Sad, sad day. Enjoyed just about everything he was in. Hope he's able to have a good quality of life going forward.
