It appears Big Ten may be prepared to expand by only 3, possibly holding open a spot for Notre Dame and one other school down the road.
Don't know who the other 2 schools would be outside of Nebraska to go to B10, but right now it doesn't appear to include Missouri.

A little CYCLONE POWER is needed in the CF, CR, CN all across the web, so I'm calling for you to tweet, blog, email, blast this everywehere, we may even get a little help in the DSM Market via the journalists to get us in. It is a grass roots, gorilla marketing effort like you've never seen before. Send this site to everyone, the media, the BIG 10 Presidents, post everywhere. Go to the different BIG 10/12 sites, CBS, ESPN, news papers, send the info to Chip, Dodds, Ebben, any and every columnist. Get the word out...we want our place at the table.

Some points you may want to bring up...
1)Iowa State is competitive and respected athletically without being an elite power that would take from the "have's" of the Big Ten. Elite secondary sports programs such as Women's Basketball, Volleyball, and Wrestling. As well as competent programs in nearly every other sport that ISU competes in.
This is evident in the current Director's Cup standings.
Academically, geographically, athletically, and culturally ISU is a perfect fit for the Big Ten...too bad we don't have enough TV sets to add to the money pot.
2)ISU fans would travel exceptionally well to places like Minnesota, Northwetern, Wisconsin, Illinois, etc. Not only in football but mens and women's basketball as well. Compare our traveling fan base to other schools being disussed for the Big 10 like Rutgers, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, etc. If you were at the 2000 Insight Bowl you would laugh at comparing Pitt's fan base to ISU's.
Plus it's tremendously easier for fans of Minny, Wisc, Indy, etc to travel to Ames.

Story of the Cyclones
During the fall of 1895, a football team from the small Agricultural College (now Iowa State) began to get noticed. On September 28th, the Ames team traveled to face a highly regarded Northwestern University team in Evanston, Illinois. The home team expected a big win, but was in for a big shock. Iowa State upset Northwestern 36-0. The final outcome was so decisive that the Chicago Tribune headline proclaimed “Iowa Cyclone Devastates Northwestern,†stating that “Northwestern might as well have tried to play football with an Iowa tornado as with the Iowa team it met yesterday.†The nickname stuck and the Iowa State team had made a name for itself, literally!

What could ISU do if they had the same opportunity with money as many other Big 12 and Big 10 Universities? All of this is made possible because of loyal fans and creative administration that does things in a unique way to be able to compete at the highest level of Division 1 athletics.
5)We rank 74th in R&D expenditures according to NSF. Most ahead of us have medical facilities, all state universities, or both included in their rankings (both for U of NE's at47)(Mizzou at 77). We are one of 84 members of the URA (Universities Research Association), a consortium of Univerities primarily funded by the Dept. of Energy. All Big 10 plus U of Chicago (the full CIC membership)are members of this organization (NE is as well, but not Mizzou).

ISU is classified as a Carnegie RU/VH institution, i.e., a research university with very high research activity[4] and receives nearly $300 million in research grants each year. Currently, ISU ranks #2 in license and options executed on its intellectual property and #5 in license and options that yield income.
6)60.6% of Alumni live within Big 10 footprint. 33.9% of non-Iowa Alumni live in Big 10 states other than Iowa. This compares to 22.5% of non-Iowa alumni living in Big 12 states other than Iowa.
Data gathered from Iowa State University Alumni Association. Total Alumni in US is 208,060, of which 83,999 reside in Iowa, 42,072 live in other states with Big 10 member institutions, and 27,876 live in other state with Big 12 member institutions.
