Technically the Tennessee Titans still own the Oilers' history and identity.

That is why the resurrected franchise was the "Texans" instead.

Cleveland is weird where, legally, the franchise went "dormant" while the Baltimore Ravens were an "expansion franchise" award to Cleveland's previous ownership.

That is why we still have the Browns but the Oilers (a much better name) are gone.

No. The Ravens were technically an expansion franchise, meaning, they started from scratch and their records are theirs. In '99, the Browns resumed their franchise and keep their former records.


Except they took all of the Browns players with them.

They played 2 years in Memphis. I think only one as the Oilers though.
