I understand the period started, but how do you know when someone actually signs? I guess I am used to an individual announcement of every guy we get. Too bad about the guy that went to Pitt, but that is bound to happen when you go after better players. Plenty of time to find another DB.

The early signing period doesn't start until Wednesday. I imagine Iowa State will handle it much like they have handled signing day previously.

Thanks. So is it possible that this could go on for several days? Like 6 guys one day, 5 the next, etc. I know you guys are all new to this too.

In football, most people sign by noon signing day, a few in the afternoon.

I think the backup plan is probably.

3 days and teams will know what guys who have given a verbal actually stand by it. I know there will be plenty of people that don't sign early but would think the great majority of those that have given a verbal to a school would or risk losing their offer if schools move on.

Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Not really it makes perfect sense. The kids can sign and not be stressed about trying to decide over Xmas. Plus there is a dead period over Xmas in which coaches can't recruit.

I like it but it just doesn't / isn't going to have the same buzz because there is not much to talk about in early February.
