Even if it was damage control, that last part about him taking the high road still sounds to me as though he blames the journalist .
100%. He is only saying the apology because he insulted anyone in Iowa media. He needs them to control the narrative.

Of course, even ISU media folks are quick to give KF the benefit of the doubt

It didn't take long to be obvious he didn't mean any of it

Those Ohio questions are like the older brother finally challenging dad at the dinner table..

Younger siblings are like, "oh ****?! We can say that?"

This is wild. Chris is taking diplomatic route, imagine in part bc he's hosting uofi/isu podcasts, but his uofi counterpart isn't carrying water for the program the way he is.

Don't have to pile on, but no comment is better than applauding a pr apology, particularly when there's video evidence from same day of him justifying his frustration.

The questions were fair. Only tone was, "everybody has" which was* a response to Kirk's defensive interruption to a professional doing his job.

No need to comment on KF, but it's definitely not deserving of kudos.

Iowa fans are eating up that apology too. It is asinine how much he has Iowa fans and media wrapped around his finger tips. Even CW was eating it up. He literally insulted their industry. Chris Hassel is the only one calling foul still and he is a hawk fan!

Yeah, chris is still going too, basically going "people are only going after him because he's losing"

Couldnt be that he's been like this his whole tenure here. Amazing how much local media fawn over him.

The only reason he apologized was because he's got his PR Firm whispering in his ear how much of a jack*** he's made himself publicly in the last week.

The only thing absent from this latest 'apology' is the admission of another blindspot. C'mon Kirk, do better.

They're too close to see that their defense of him is still ignoring the elephant in the room

Dudes character, racism, nepotism and entitlement.

This isn't happening in a vacuum. He's defending his son that he's employed as his right hand confidante. The same son that was living in section 8 housing while playing for his millionaire father.

The fact that the questions are only heating up, by out of state reporters, asking the completely legitimate questions, while the team is having historically bad struggles, directly bc of said son and said father's inability to be the slightest self reflective doesn't mean the fans should chill out.

**Hey media members, why are you coming to the defense of the jock millionaire when he's told you implicitly and explicitly what he thinks of you?

You have ink, sack up and use it.**

The Campbell ISU situation isn't the same.
KF is a piece of ****. I don't think CMC is a piece of ****.
CMC also talking recently about how good our special teams has been is laughable.

Dont you want to be respected for your craft? Be fair, but be realistic.

You dont have to be Skip, Whitlock, Herd or Rome, but being a coward isn't the play.

Kirk has been the same guy for 20 years. It was mildly surprising he even attempted to apologize but completely predictable he continued to make his point after apologizing. Iowa has him for as long as he wants to be there and it’s not really something worth caring about. If he wants to continue to stubbornly run his program this way, have at it. They will continue their descent into reality. And I’m here for it.

An apology put out by someone who has hired their own personal PR firm is inherently insincere.

Hilarious how dumb our states media members are. Reminds me of his pressers after he tried to talk a sexual assault victim into letting them handle it internally and had a player move into a crime scene. He channeled his inner Rafael Palmero and gave the “You can question my coaching but if people question my character I’m going to draw the line” act.

As we learned during the Iowa football racism allegations a couple years ago, there are sports personalities and there are sports journalists, and people should know the difference.
