Thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine what that would be like as a kid or as a parent. It does look like the prognoses for thyroid cancer is pretty good (obviously in general since we don't know his case), so good luck to him.

Friend of mine down here had that two years ago. Simple surgery and she has been right as rain since then. Of course "simple" surgery is surgery that happens to someone else. She was 87 at the time and recently had her 89th B'day. Here's hoping they can all be that easy.

Tough to watch your kid go through something like that. As a parent, you are so absolutely helpless...

My thoughts are with Fran & his family; I hope the prognosis is good for Fran's son, and the doctors can restore his health.

I can only imagine what that family is going through. I'm really glad Fran coaches at Univ of Iowa. It is where I would want my kid to be for something like this.
