My dad once told me the best way to get rid of an old refrigerator is to put it on the curb. No one wants a free one. But put a sign on it that says "Leave $20 in the mailbox" and it'll be gone within the hour.

You would have to get a new mailbox because the hinges would wear out from everyone checking the mailbox for the 20 bucks.
