I am going to be going out to Las Vegas for a few days in late February-early March, five weeks from now.

I know at least some of you were out there for the football game back in 2021; any hotel recommendations for a single guy traveling on his own? In order to really experience Las Vegas I would like to stay on the Strip or Fremont Street, or even anywhere close enough to there to make no difference. I'm comfortable financially, but I wouldn't call myself wealthy. Looking to stay three nights before I go check out Arizona and the Grand Canyon.

Thanks in advance. You can certainly PM me as well.

Your trying to gamble? Have sex? Chill? Eat nice? Willing to walk around? Budget? Tolerance for crazies? Pool life? Drink cheap? Live large? Willing to go off strip/downtown? Smoke weed? Gamble $1 in seedy places?

I’ve been 30+ times and go a few times per year. I’d do the strip just for the atmosphere. It’s a $20-$25 Uber to downtown if you want to check it out.

Almost all of the major resorts will be fine but I would stay somewhere mid-strip so you can easily walk around and check everything out.

A-tier $$$
Bellagio, Cosmo, Caesar’s, Aria, Venetian

B-tier $$
Paris, Mirage, Cromwell, Planet Hollywood, MGM Grand, Park MGM

C-Tier $
Horseshoe (Ballys), Linq, Flamingo, Harrah’s, NYNY

All of those are comfortable, safe, walkable, easy to get to. I’d avoid places like Oyo, Best Western, etc. for your first trip.

I prefer the strip over Fremont street. I’ve stayed at a lot of different places on the strip and don’t have a strong preference.

My only recommendations are to:

(1) spend a little extra money (unless you’re really strapped on cash) and stay at a nicer hotel. The cost difference is often not that different but the quality of the property is significant. In other words, stay away from places like the Luxor, New York, the Linq, Flamingo or Tropicana, Mirage, treasure Island, etc. I would spend the extra money at stay at Bellagio, Venetian/Palazzo, or something like that.

Wynn is amazing but usually really expensive. I think Caesar’s is expensive and overrated.

(2). Consider where you want to go while you’re there in terms of restaurants and pick hotel accordingly. If you commit to one end of the strip or the other (e.g. Delano/Mandalay Bay) you’re going to spend a bunch of money on cabs getting to the other places at which point you would have been better off just spending more money on your hotel. What looks “a block or two away” in Vegas is further than it appears because the properties are so massive.

(3) don’t stay off the strip if you want to spend time there. See point above about distance/cab money. You’ll spend more money in the long run.

I personally lean towards Aria or Venetian. Somewhat centrally located and not crazy expensive. Both are nice properties with good amenities, restaurants, shopping, etc

Also, if you’re flexible with timing you’re going to save a ton of money staying midweek unless there is a big conference in town (which is, of course, common). Weekends when there are a bunch of events going on can get expensive. Definitely pays to shop around on dates.

We stayed at Mandalay Bay when went out for the game in 2021. Mainly because it was one of the ones closest to Allegiant Stadium. But its on one end of the strip. We walked the full length of the strip and it's a long walk up and back. If I wasn't going for a game I'd stay mid way on the strip. Agree pick a nice hotel but I think prices are pretty similar at a lot of them.

Nothing is as close as it seems in that damn town. The Aria is literally ON the strip, but it seems like a 15 minute walk to get to the strip from your Aria hotel room.

Depending on why you're going, I wouldn't prioritize location much. Find a nice place and Uber to the strip when you have to. You can walk a bit from there.

Hear lots of good things about Circa. That’s definitely one I want to try on my next trip. I enjoyed staying at the Mirage when we went there for the football game but it changed ownership groups since then. I have no idea if it is as good now

First time in Vegas I'd stay on the strip. You can always head down to Fremont street for the people watching and cheaper gambling for one night. One night is more than enough.

I used to work hospitality, hotels specifically, and I've stayed at most places due to corporate tie-ins or conferences.

I agree with whoever said it kinda depends what you are looking for in a home base. Are you looking more into the pool scene, gambling, sports book right at your place?

If you want to stay in the heart of the strip, Bellagio is great for higher budget, but I've also stayed at the Flamingo multiple times and always had a great time.

For me, I normally stay on the southend but I don't mind walking. MGM Grand is my go to, not as pricey and has a lot going on, or Aria if you want to spend a little more.

I am curious to stay there also. Circa is one of only a few locations that has a heated outdoor pool that is open year around. Gambling downtown is also cheaper than the strip. I love craps, but hate it when the nicer strip hotels bump the minimums to $15. Plus you can walk around from place to place easy, but most are not nearly as nice as the strip resorts.

Circa has an amazing Sportsbook. Probably the best downtown hotel.

It must be my luck. I only do table games. for some reason I get taken real fast on Fremont St, but if I do like blackjack, craps, roulette, 3 card poker at the Bellagio, I can pretty much stay around even for most the day.
