Alert: Important reminder from ISU Compliance

Cyclone Fans, please be reminded that NCAA rules prohibit fans/boosters from recruiting on an institution’s behalf. This means sending recruiting communications (emails, texts, Tweets, Facebook messages, etc.) to prospective student-athletes is impermissible. Violations of this bylaw could result in recruiting sanctions or athletes being deemed ineligible. I understand and I don't tweet at recruits, but every school in the world has people doing this.

It's good Iowa State is doing this.

My question - is the NCAA really going to care if a McDonalds fry cook who cheers for Iowa State tweets for a guy to come here?

Something has to give here. In the age of social media, this just isn't enforceable anymore. Even if the NCAA wanted to try, what is to keep me from posing as a KU fan and tweeting a bunch of recruits?
