Posting on behalf of the ISU Compliance office...

Cyclone Fans, please be reminded that NCAA rules prohibit fans/boosters from recruiting on an institution’s behalf. This means sending recruiting communications (emails, texts, Tweets, Facebook messages, etc.) to prospective student-athletes is impermissible. Violations of this bylaw could result in recruiting sanctions or athletes being deemed ineligible. If you have any questions concerning this or any NCAA rules, please contact the Compliance Office at
[email protected] or through twitter: @ISUcompliance. Thanks and go Cyclones!

I understand and I don't tweet at recruits, but every school in the world has people doing this.

It's good Iowa State is doing this.

My question - is the NCAA really going to care if a McDonalds fry cook who cheers for Iowa State tweets for a guy to come here?

What if I just think they are super awesome and start a thread on about them on CF. I mean they may think my av is actually me and come to ISU for that!

Doesn't that mean every school's fanbase is committing thousands of violations every year?

It DOES seem kind of impossible to enforce, doesn't it?

Something has to give here. In the age of social media, this just isn't enforceable anymore. Even if the NCAA wanted to try, what is to keep me from posing as a KU fan and tweeting a bunch of recruits?

yes...But they will make an example out of ISU. 10 year postseason ban, no scholarships and you have to fire your dreamy coach.

Every ISU MBB and FB player is ineligible next year.

Love,

NCAA

This rule is completely laughable in this day in age, and even enforcing it once with one school would be a joke since it happens with absolutely every school.
