So was this a 2009? He says adding Middle Tennessee State to it's 2009 schedule. Waiting to here the sqwaks reply to this as they have ISU on the schedule.

Iowa wants to get rid of Iowa State on the Schedule to get a better opponent?

LOL. Cowherd exposes Iowa. Iowa State has proven to be a tough game for the Hawkeyes. Take Iowa State off the schedule and they will recruit a real cream puff.

LOL! Our OOC is harder every single year!

But honestly it's no wonder they get to 7 or 8 wins most years - as bad as the OOC part is it's the toughest part of their schedule!

Playing a mid-major (or lower-mid) does serve a couple of purposes. It normally earns a "W" for the major, which is important towards getting the 6-wins for a bowl game. Additionally, it serves as an important source of income for the mid-major ($500,000), which can make up a significant portion of their budget. The elite teams obviously schedule some tougher non-con games as they want to stay in title hunt. But even the elites schedule at least 1 cream puff.

To me the Iowa - Iowa State game is great...fun rivalry week and often an entertaining game for the fans. Is it better for both Iowa and Iowa State to drop it, schedule an almost certain "W", earn additional home game revenue, etc.? Opinions abound that support both playing or dumping the game...

Scathing stuff right there. The teams he compared schedules with Iowa are all blue blood programs or in the rich recruiting grounds down south. Iowa simply doesn't have those quality of players or program. Like ISU, they're in a tough to recruit to, low population state. Therefore, they need to pad the schedule heavily to create the illusion of success. Fu6k the UI and their pretend football.

Both schools would benefit from reducing it to 2 out of ever 4 years, imo.

Edit: UI, like most P5 schools, insists on 7 home games each year and ISU should be doing the same. If you start playing the in-state game every other year, you could schedule ISU in Iowa City in the years ISU has 5 home conference games and vice versa. Both schools could get their 7 home games.

Ohio State plays in Iowa City for the first time in 7 years.

The excuse now is that they have to get rid of ISU in order to play these games also falls on def ears. They've had 4 OOC games every year until what last year or this year. No excuse.
