The Iowa State women's basketball team (18-11, 9-9 Big 12) is set to square off with No. 24 Kansas State (21-9, 11-7 Big 12) on Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m. in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament. The Cyclones earned the No. 5 seed, with KSU entering the tournament as the No. 4 seed. Iowa State is riding a five-game win streak into Oklahoma City, which ties Baylor for the longest current streak in the Big 12. Iowa State looks to make it six-straight for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Who: Iowa State vs. Kansas State
Where: Chesapeake Energy Arena - Oklahoma City, Okla.
When: Saturday, March 4 at 11 a.m.
Projected Starting Lineup: Seanna Johnson, Jadda Buckley, Meredith Burkhall, Bridget Carleton and Emily Durr
Radio: Cyclone Radio Network/Learfield
Talent: Rich Fellingham (PxP); Lyndsey Fennelly (color)
TV: FSN
Talent: Ron Thulin (PxP); Brenda VanLengen (color)

Again, Iowa State has three of the Big 12's top 10 scorers with Johnson fourth (15.7), Carleton in fifth (15.5) and Buckley in eighth (14.2). No other Big 12 school has more than two in the top 10. Defense needs to pay if they key on the big three. To move on, we need points from Burkhall and Durr - and some bench points, maybe a half dozen each from Starks and Bowe.

• Lewis, a two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection and a three-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team recipient, is averaging 14.0 points on a .561 field goal percentage and a career-high 8.2 rebounds per game.
• Wesemann earned her first career league first team honor with a career-high 14.0 points per game and is shooting 87.6 percent from the free throw line.

Rubber match. We know CBF and staff have a great game plan, we haven't had a lot of success in conference tournaments in recent years - let's get one.

Go State!!

I haven't followed the women as much as I normally do, so what do they need to do this weekend to get into the tourney? They aren't in yet, correct??

Sisters should be in. Bracketology showing them as a 10 seed. 1 or more wins in the Big 12 tourney would only pad their seed. 10 actually isn't too bad...you get the 7 to start and then the 2. It doesn't get you that #1 seed right away like the 8/9 seed.

We can beat K-State, but we have to play really good ball. They are a good team.

Need to play like we did against them in Ames to win (duh). But an NCAA trip should be waiting for us regardless. A loss to a team with a very good RPI like KSU shouldn't hurt. Beating Texas on the road is probably what punched our ticket. That win, plus beating K-State and Drake, and only a single loss to a team with an RPI worse than 100 (at TCU), should be enough to squeak in as a 10 or 11 seed. In is in. At this point, I suppose it doesn't really matter all that much where you are, so long as you're there.

That being said, let's beat the Mildcats! Another 'W' is always a good thing and it's been too many seasons since we managed a Big 12 tournament win.

Seanna on the bench with two fouls in the 1st qtr.
A couple threes for ISU, but COLD shooting for both teams.
10-4 ISU with 2:22 left in the 1st

KSU up 19-16 thanks to hot shooting by KSU's Goth.

We need Jadda and Bridget to get into the offensive flow.

Halftime. 25-24, KSU. Not too awful, considering how poorly ISU shot in the 2nd.

Good game plan, holding Lewis and Wesemann scoreless. But, shooting g 20% - not over yet. We're entitled to one bad qtr. Need a good 3rd.

38-36 ISU. Seanna to Heather was the mirror image of Bridget to Seanna.

The improvements in Durr's game over the last half of the season has been great see. Today she's driven to the hoop a couple of times and been taking those 15 footers. Combined with her usual 3 point ability and she's turning herself into someone that needs to be respected by an opponent.
