Differences between the first 2 matches David won and the last 2 he lost:

KOT stopped going into the split leg position when David would get head inside single. Squares his hips up and doesn't let David split the leg - he was comfortable scrambling there before and David won those positions. KOT is stronger and stays in position and stalks DC - DC comes up out of his stance and tries to shoot from space but has zero luck. KOT got better on bottom. David has to figure out a way to score when he gets to the leg once KOT squares up and cuts the corner. David has to be able to stay in his stance and handfight for 7 minutes+. He tends to get tired and stands up out of his stance because he isn't the best handfighter and wears down. He's used to using his athleticism and quickness on everyone else not named KOT.

I watched a replay of Payton Hall's 2 takedowns of KOT out of curiosity how Hall was able to get KOT taken down twice. First one was a head inside sweep single from a sort of tie up position. Hall just came up to the hips quick before KOT could set up his defense. KOT didn't have time to slow it down and work Hall's head outside and turn the corner. It happened a lot quicker. Second takedown was a bit of KOT's own medicine. He got in on a head inside single. Hall got his head pushed outside and started to turn the corner on him. KOT sort of bailed on it to which Hall chain wrestled into a double catching KOT a bit. I think if David plays more patient on his shot he has a chance at replicating some of this. If he's going to hit that sweep single, he has to move a little quicker getting to the finish before KOT can set up his defense. He can't let KOT get the lock around the leg and prep his corner turning/cradle threat. Otherwise, wrestle a boring match and let a defensive battle potentially come to him. There are ways David can make it happen, he just can't get into that slow chess match of working for the takedown that he did on Sunday night.
