Sam looked like he was only interested in doing as little as possible to win. Those matches will bite you, eventually.
I saw it differently. Sam worked hard, a lot harder than his opponent in the first period, but he was not well rewarded. Up only 2-1 after 1. He pushed hard in the second but I think started managing his energy as it was clear his opponent was waiting for him to tire out and then put on his push in the third. I hate that approach to wrestling - sit back for two periods and then push hard in the 3rd when you hope your opponent is fatigued. I wish the rule on stalling was clearer. If a guy doesn't go for a TD across a whole period, that should be automatic stalling. In any event, Sam was outweighed by a fair margin, but was clearly the better wrestler, so I thought he did fine.

So, by seeds, we are looking to go 4-2 on the front side and 1-1 on the backside, so 5-3, with Kraisser dropping out. I think we go 6-2 and Kraisser stays alive. But seriously we have a great shot at going 7-1. Let's bring it, boys!

I hope Andonian plants Gfeller (for many, many reasons).

141 vs Cole Matthews
149 vs Sasso (winnable)
157 vs Cardenas (6 seed but is 19-1)
165 vs Carr
184 is a stud, he will win

Pretty sure this exact same thing happened last year. Good for UNI, hope they do well. They don’t have the horses to hang around for long.
