Obvious question.

maybe he was one of those hawk fans that go to iowa state.

Let's not forget the great treatment Cyclone fans received at the Hooters Casino in Vegas last fall- FREE beer and a $10(?) food buffet including wings and other bbq-type food. I consider Hooters wings to be pretty much "straight down the middle average" which just meets my criteria to be able to stuff my face with them at a buffet, especially when washing them down with FREE beer.

Man, You guys are missing the point. We need donars. Think Phil Knight and Org, T. Boone and OSU, Hooters and ISU!

Unfortunately I don't think the ISU athletic department wants to be that closely associated to Hooters. I don't know why, it is such a fine family dining restaurant. It would be nice to get a big donotation though. I wouldn't be bothered by a mini hooters under the bowled in end zone and wings and beer in the stands.

Jeesh - earlier in the week there was talk that some of the postings in this site may be running Lucca off.

Now we're working on alienating alums and potential sugar-daddy donors...

I don't want to alienate anyone. I was just offering my assumption of what the university would think of it. I will take any donors we can get. Heck, if the Lumber Yard wants to pump some money into Jack Trice, I am all for it.

I heard the Hooters guy showed up at athletics offices and wanted to donate $10M on the spot and JP wouldn't even talk to him.

Shortly thereafter Hoiberg and Jim Gibbons showed up and wanted the basketball and wrestling positions and JP wouldn't talk to them.

I also heard that shortly after that the Lock Ness Monster and big foot wanted to become the ISU mascot and JP wouldn't talk to them.

JP was spotted later that day stomping on puppies.

Found this online at yourbusinessfranchising.com. These are the 'requirements' for starting your own Hooters franchise.

There is one in Janesville, WI and there are 60k people within a 5 mile radius. My guess is they dont stick to those requirement fully.

Janesville is 45 minute -1hour away from Madison that already has one and Rockford that has one. I think it has more to do with someone having the capital to make it float.

I would love to get a Noodles and Company here but you have to have at least 5 million in assets to even qualify. Stupid franchises and their set bars.

They were preparing for this:

As I've said previously, I think Hooters wings are average as far as wings go, but if they were available inside JTS on game day, I would be in heaven! I'd have to sneak in more beer, but I could deal with that.

hooters wings are meh. WSW are the best in Ames.

But with Hooters.. you get 'atmosphere'.

I like West Cyde Wings' wings, but the last time I ordered their cheddar nuggets I about barfed. It was like breaded Cheez Whiz.

I am not sure there is enough willing "talen" in Ames to make the environment work.

I have been to some Hooters in places with a very deep talen bench but the environment at the resteraunt was sub-par.

When's the last time you were on campus? I think that there's plenty of talent in town.

IMO a Hooters (or BWW) would ROLL in Ames. Lots of college students that can't get into the bars would have someplace to go and watch games. Other things that I think would make a ton of money in Ames: Dave and Busters, Pepperjax, Olive Garden.

In general you don't see a whole lot of Hooters Restraunts in college towns. It took FOREVER for Gainesville to get one and its a bigger town than Ames.

I'd much rather see a Chipotle open up in Ames before anything like Hooters.

http://www.bus.iastate.edu/gbb/donors/Droste.pdf

Here's Ed Droste's profile. That should educate those who think the guy doesn't donate or have anything to do with ISU.

Why the hell would they need a Chipotle in Ames? FB is better than any of the Chipotles I've been to. The Chipotle in WDM is quite bad, actually.

Would love to see one in Ames. I don't buy the no talent who would want to work there. College town, PLENTY of worthy employees, trust me, I've met a lot who would be great there. I do buy that Hooters may not want to open one in a college town, but they did eventually put one in Gainesville. I think Ames just needs to grow a little bit more, start booming at a rate like Ankeny was and soon enough someone with some money would open one.

how bout a tilted kilt... there's one in cedar rapids and everytime I drive by the place is packed... It's like a hooters but with bar food ... It's just too bad we'd be stepping on the toes of one of our most well off graduates.
