I know I'm drinking Koolaid but this is how I see it playing out. OSU drops a game later this year to miss out on a national title again. OU beats Baylor head to head. My toughest pick is Tech. I just don't have a feel for how good they are. I don't see KSU finishing much if any lower than this. Kansas and WVU are kinda a wash. I think they will both get a win or two in conference but not much more. I'm giving Texas more love than I think they deserve so far this year, but there is a chance with the talent they have and changes in coaching that they can improve.

BTW- I just realized that ISU is currently the only winless team in the Big 12.

I think the difference between 3rd and 8th might only be 2 games (conference record) -- which in my opinion is an awesome conference season, but because of the MNC it'll be viewed as a bad thing once again.

Getting four wins in the conference and going to a bowl game would be a huge for this team.

I think it will be a tall order, but possible. WVU, Kansas and Kansas St are all winnable based on what I have seen so far. I think throw in there Texas and Texas Tech as possible winnable games. You also have to figure that Rhoads will get his upset somewhere. 5-7 is probably more likely, but I don't believe a bowl game is out of the question. I'm not giving up on this young team yet.

reality is that it's far too early. baylor seems the cream today, followed closely by oSu and then, not closely, ou. the rest are in a muddled. week one of conference play gives a a far clearer picture.

ttech v. tcu thursday will be the next shakeout after wvu showed it can play and ou's play showed it can be beat. k-state at texas will be next. i see the league like this given that we simply don't have enough info yet to know.

baylor, oSu
ou
ttech, tcu, k-state, texas
isu, wvu, ku

Everyone is on the Baylor bandwagon, but they have played the Sisters of the Poor and their cousin team Brothers of the Poor. Absolutely no competition to speak of. Its easy to put up gaudy numbers when you have the weakest preconference schedule out there.

I think that Oklahoma State is going to go down hill once the Sports Illustrated article is published and we hear more about allegations of wrong doing in the program. Sounds like the trouble has been going on for a long time and a lot of people are involved. No way that doesn't affect the team.
Baylor hasn't played anyone, so once they do, we will know how good they are.
Texas had an embarrassing showing on Saturday night, and their going to be in panic mode now. I think it is BCS or bust for Mac Brown this season.
As far as the pick for Iowa State, I don't know. I can't wait to see them play Iowa this weekend, not just because it is a big rivalry game, but to also gage their improvement and see how high their ceiling is. Iowa isn't a great team by any means, but they are comparable probably to the K-States or Kansas' teams in our conference right now. If we are going to get past three conference wins, we better be able to beat a team like Iowa.

people are making too many judgments too early. teams are just finding their legs. that written, baylor has tons of offensive talent, i don't care if they are playing sister mary margaret and the girls right now.

If ISU does beat Iowa, add at least another win in addition to that (i.e., 5-7/3-6).
