Your own family. What the hell. I can't wrap my mind around it.
Are Iowa's mental health resources currently being addressed?

Here in Iowa, more than 120,000 people live with serious mental health issues and 80,000 Iowa youths cope with severe emotional disorders. Yet Iowa has fewer psychiatric beds and mental health professionals than nearly every state in the nation.
One of the biggest problems with mental health issues is that, even when there are facilities available, some people just refuse to get help. People self medicate with alcohol, or illegal drugs to try and cope with their issues. Then they snap and kill someone or end up on the street because they can't handle their responsibilities anymore.
There's a stigma involved with mental health issues. People feel weak if they have to get help for something. And those who do get help sometimes get dirty looks because they are taking pills for anxiety or depression.
