If you were a coach making a P5 salary, why put your kids on scholarship, even if they were good enough to deserve it? Having 1 or 2 more open scholarships would be a recruiting advantage. You make enough that the money doesn't matter. Have then walk on and use that scholarship on someone else that might help your program and let you earn more money on your next contract.

Speaking as someone who was a degenerate gambler in about 2013, he made me look like grandma going to bingo once a month. There was a few others on those teams I swear I saw almost as much when I'd make the trip, never bothered to find out what players they were, just knew of josh from being a Wash grad myself.
