There is something satisfying using tools that are multigenerational.I have a newer 4' level and also a new bullet level but I use my Grandpa's wooden 18" level for intermediate lengths. You can barely see the original manufacturer markings on it so I looked it up once and that model was only made in the late '40s. He was a carpenter and you can tell by how worn the wood is that he probably used it pretty much every day from the day he bought it until he retired at 80 in the 1980s.
