Douglas and Todd out of Minnesota is pretty good.
Been trying to find a bottle of Weller Special Reserve but haven't had any luck. It's supposed to be the same recipe as Pappy Van Winkle but not aged as long.
I thought the Weller Antique 107 was the same recipe, but I may be mistaken.
I've heard rumors that the Weller's are Pappy that didnt meet their standards. So:From what I've read Special Reserve, Special Reserve 12 yrs, and Antique 107 are all the same recipe. SR is aged 7 years which is why it's the cheapest. Antique 107 is aged at 107 proof which is apparently why it's so expensive.
I've heard Balcones out of Waco makes some pretty good whiskies, but I don't think you can get them in Iowa yet.

Has anyone given this a whirl yet?
My thoughts as well.I've got a bottle of their regular American Single Malt Barrel Strength. It's pretty tasty. I've seen this around lately, and it sounds good, but a little expensive ($50+).
I get a couple handles a year from my uncle who grew up in the area. 10x better than the BV bottles it comes in and non bootleg version. In the mid 70s a guy in our house lived near Templeton and brought the bootleg Templeton Rye. It was incredible.
Does anyone have any insight into what allocated whiskeys are going out in a given week?
My bourbon wish list (at present moment):
Colonel EH Taylor (SiB)
Weller Antique 107 or 12yr
Elmer T Lee
Elijah Craig barrel proof B520
Four Roses select LE
Michter's 10yr
King of Kentucky
Left off any BTAC limited releases like William Larue Weller that I'll never find...
