We could still get 4 into the sweet 16 and people are declaring the league over rated. Too soon.

So is the B10 and P12 then. P12 AZ, OSU, USC and CO have all lost.

No one had the B10 ranked high, but the P12 is obviously overrated, they had a lot of teams ranked much higher in the RPI than Kenpom

Our conference teams all had favorable matchups. 4 out of 7 may lose.

As do most of the power conferences. Virtually all of them are higher seeds in every game.

Big 10 lost 2
Pac 12 lost 4
Big 12 lost 2

Though I would throw out any 8/9 match up as one team having a favorable match up.

ACC looks really good, the rest of the conferences are pretty blah

In most cases B12 teams are playing the best from other conferences. So it's not that we are overrated, but our 3rd best team isn't playing their 3rd best team, etc.

That doesn't really hold much water when they're playing the best team from a tiny conference who only makes the tourney because they won their conference tournament. The 3rd best team in the Big 12 or any power conference should be miles better than the best team in a no-name conference.

Back on topic though did anyone else feel like WVU pretty much gave up with 5 or 6 minutes left? They had one point where I think they turned it over 5 or 6 straight times on lazy passes that didn't look like much effort was being put forth. They might have been able to get back in the game, but I really thought it seemed like they just gave up. Did anyone else feel this way?

Kind of. I think Austin broke them mentally.

Perhaps all these computer rating systems should adjust their formulas if the Big 12 is so overrated.

I do love how folks over value these games though. 1-2 games some how define a season while the previous 30+ are ignored.

It's happened for over a decade straight so it's not just a 1-2 game trend. This conference has done nothing outside KU in a long time.

Let's hold off judgement on the Big12 until after Sunday. If OU, KU and ISU can all make it out of the weekend I'd say the conference is doing OK. Baylor/WVU blew favorable seeds/matchups, but regardless of the fact they swept ISU due to being a matchup problem for us, I still felt like ISU was the 3rd best team in the conference behind KU/OU.

The Big 12 of the past few years has been so fantastic because of it's depth, not because it has a few elite teams and a whole bunch of crappy ones(Here's lookin' at you Big10/ACC). That hallmark of having a crap ton of tourney teams, but no elite ones doesn't usually lead to deep NCAA runs.
