Both guys tired.
Bastida exhausted. Reaches on a poor shot
Buchanan goes around for 2.

I don’t understand why you don’t try & get some riding time when you get top position
Thought the same thing. He ended the first period On top and must have had close to 30 seconds. Why not try to get 30 more?

I think that’s probably it Buf. He’s getting better but he didn’t even have good body position on his mat returns. I’m sure they are afraid someone will catch him.

Wish i could have watched it, but the descriptions here (thanks!!!) make it seem like it was actually a great result. Had Buchanan beat. Elevation may have emptied the tank on him. Another great learning opportunity.

Buchanan gave up on getting a pin in OT. Took Bastida to his back and just got up and walked away.

Are they thinking he going to get reversed instead of giving up an escape?
my thought was staying away from a reversal - thought Yonger could have stalled away some of that 3rd period

At the rate he’s improving, if he can get just the basic escape/spiral ride down he will be damn near unbeatable by the end of next year.
If he could have went under Buchanan in the second he would have been up 3 after the TD in the 3rd. Totally different outcome.

He gave up a real ugly reversal against Loomer a couple days ago. Didn’t impact that match, but it was because Bastida is clearly better than Loomer. Loomer ain’t Buchanan.
