The Cubs will place Carlos Zambrano on the restricted list tomorrow, according to MLB.com's Carrie Muskat (via Twitter). Players on the restricted list do not count towards a team's 25-man or 40-man roster, so the Cubs will be able to add a player to replace Zambrano. It's not the first time a prominent player has been placed on the restricted list this year; former Cub Milton Bradley spent time on the restricted list earlier in the year, and so did Yorvit Torrealba.
By placing Zambrano on the restricted list, the Cubs free up a roster spot and provide themselves with time to determine their next move. Players on the restricted list may not sign with other teams. The Mariners paid Bradley while he was on the restricted list, but teams do not always pay players on the restricted list.

Hell yeah. If the Cobs are going to suck, lets take it all the way. None of this half-*** crap. I want a complete implosion this season.

The Clippers have only been around for 40 years. The Cubs have been god awful and/or urinating talent down their legs for 100+ years.

The Washington Senators? After spawning the Twins and then the Rangers, they just gave up. That said, the Rangers are right there.

How about the Washington Generals? The Globetrotters have been kicking their ***** for ever.

The Cubs have done nothing with much more talent than the Rangers have ever had which makes it even more pathetic.

All the Rangers have ever had is Nolan Ryan... who alone makes the Franchise stronger than the Cubs.

No one pisses away talent more than the Cubs.

You gave me Nolan Ryan. Let's see what else there is:

Goose Gossage
Fergie Jenkins
Gaylord Perry
Whitey Herzog
Juan Gonzalez
Reuben Sierra
Julio Franco
Harold Baines
Rafael Palmero
Kevin Brown
Charlie Hough
Kenny Rogers
Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez
Will Clark
Mickey Tettleton
Alex Rodriguez
Alfonso Soriano
Mark Teixeira
Michael Young
Hank Blalock
Kevin Millwood
Eric Gagne
Josh Hamilton
Bobby Abreu
Ian Kinsler

There's some wasted talent...

Kenny Rogers went to crap when he left "First Edition". You are seriously hanging Gossage on the Rangers? The White Sox had Gossage (with lefty Terry Forrester as set-up man) and would have been set at closer for 20 years.

Come on, are you saying when the Cubs traded young Jamie Moyer and Rafael Palmeiro to the Rangers in 1987 for Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams (and change) we made a bad trade?:jimlad::chatterbox:

In the post game press conference last night, Lou said that they're bringing Stevens back up along with another pitcher. One in Zambrano's spot, and one in Grabow's. Grabow went to the DL after reaggravating his knee.
