Interesting Matt Kuchar Story

This little tidbit on Matt Kuchar has sparked some debate on social media:

https://www.golf.com/news/2019/02/14/matt-kuchar-caddie-pay-controversy/

Basically, Kuchar doesn't take his regular caddie to a tournament in Mexico and picks up a local caddie. He agrees to pay him between $2,000 - $4,000, depending on how he does in the tournament. Kuchar winds up winning and pocketing 1.3 million dollars. He pays the caddie $5,000, which was their agreement plus a $1,000 bonus, but on the tour it is customary to pay your caddie up to 10% for a win, which in this case would have been $130,000.00. Apparently the caddie is not too thrilled about the pay now.

I see it both ways. On one hand, a deal is a deal. On the other hand, if you regularly pay your caddie a significant sum more for a win, that would seem to suggest you are acknowledging the caddie's role in you playing well. You'd think you could probably float the guy a little more cash, especially when you just raked in 1.3 million dollars.

Also, for Kuchar's public persona being that of the "nice guy" he sure does kind of come off as a **** in this article...

WrestleStat Enhancement for School Profiles

We've added another new feature on a schools profile page to show the history of how a school has performed in the NCAA Championships.

This new tab will show the breakdown of the qualifiers/placements, for each weight in a season. Oh, and each one of those values is a link to the wrestlers profile that earned that placement.

Gives a great high-level view of how a school has performed in the past.

Just go to a schools profile page, then click the "Nationals History" tab, BOOM!

Here are some examples to check out:

Consumer Cellular - Anyone Use This Service?

My parents have asked me to do some digging about Consumer Cellular. They are tired of paying what they pay for their cell service and this sounds attractive to them. I have never heard of Consumer Cellular and was wondering if anyone on this board has any experience with this company? I would hate for them to fall for one of those companies that just seems too good to be true.

Any insights are appreciated! Thanks!

2019 RECRUITING/COACHES PARTY: Feb. 28 ... Details here

Working on changing things up a bit. Of course, our special guests will be there to mingle and we'll have a program where you can ask questions. But I'm working on getting more former players there and will hopefully be giving away season tickets and some tickets to the Big 12 Tournament. More on that in the coming days.

Here's a Facebook RSVP.

Favorite Animated Movies

Animated movies encompass such a wide range anymore, I thought it would be interesting to get a discussion going on CF's favorites. Having kids will likely affect how many you have seen, but I'd like to keep it open to all styles (old-school Disney animation, computer animation, stop-motion, anime, etc)

I'll throw out my Top 10, but it's razor thin on some of these rankings:

1. How To Train Your Dragon
2. Big Hero 6
3. Incredibles
4. Wreck-It Ralph
5. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
6. Toy Story
7. Aladdin
8. Tangled
9. Frozen
10. Lion King

Just missed: Up, Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Shrek

Underrated: Kubo and the Two Strings, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Arthur Christmas

WrestleStat Tourney Pool is now open!

The postseason is here, and Tourney Pool is ready to go. There were quite a few enhancements this offseason, as well as a styling upgrade.

If you're not familiar with the rules, here they are:

1) select 1 wrestler at each of the 10 weights
2) wrestlers are weighted based on their seed
3) you have 1000 points to spend across your 10 wrestlers
4) there are 3 tie breaker questions to answer, based on the ACTUAL team results of the tournament
5) the wrestlers that you selected earn the points that they are awarded in the actual tournament

Users can join any public groups that exist. You can join a private group if you've been invited and know the password for the group. You can also create your own public or private groups.

There are 2 official WrestleStat groups already created, 1 for B1G tournament, and 1 for Nationals.

Quick note on seeds: Since have not been set yet, but you ARE able to make selections in the B1G group. I updated the top 8 seeds, based on Flo's recent article about their anticipated seeds. Once seeds have been officially release, WrestleStat will get them updated in Tourney Pool. If updating the seeds causes your submittal to go over the 1000 point maximum, it's up to you to change your picks so you can get down to the 1000 point maximum. We will send out friendly reminders prior to the tournament if there are still some submittals out there that are still over the 1000 point maximum.

You can join as many groups as you like; last year there were 3 users that were members of more than 20 groups.

Here's the link to get you started:

Remember, all of this is a FREE service! If you'd like to help out WrestleStat, there's a green "Donate/Remove Ads" link at the top right of the page. Any amount is appreciated, $1, $5, $2499, whatever you want to do.

Thanks again everyone, have fun!

Buzzer beaters

Just had Wichita State/UConn on randomly and WSU hit a last second shot on a runner to win it.

It's March tomorrow. Arguably the best sporting event takes place in a few weeks, and even some of these late regular season and conference tourney games can get crazy.

What are some of your most memorable buzzer beaters in college basketball? Regular season or tourney.

I'll start with one that was posted in the JT thread.
