I don't understand why people say it's a new system. The system is going to be nearly the same thing it was last season (spread) but faster paced (no huddle). We put up a million yards in our last couple games last season, I don't expect much different to begin this season. Our chances to score more points will probably be there simply because we won't hold the ball as long (no huddle). This doesn't even account for the fact that while SDSU was a 27 point win, the starters weren't on the field for the entire 4th quarter. SDSU had 3 points on the first team D. NDSU put up 24 points on a team we hung 44 on handily, and gave up 25 to a team that our starters held to 3.
Last year I think we were about 75 % spread and 25 % pro style. I'm sure it won't be much different but the guys have to learn a completely different language not to mention many of them will be playing different positions. I don't think our offense will be quite there yet therefore I think we'll win 31-13 with many of those 13 coming against our backups.

This doesn't even account for the fact that we have more depth than them across the board. Their lines are going to be worn down possibly by the half. If our offense can sustain and finish drives early, it's going to pay dividends in more ways than points because their D is going to wear down fast.

I'm also hoping we turn this into a track event. We go 5 wide and run streak routes until their DBs legs collapse.

... with 6 guys at my work that ISU will beat NDSU by at least 3 TDs (21 points). I work with bunch of NDSU fans, and they all took the bet without hesitation . The bet is a free lunch from each of them, or I pay for 6 lunches. Was I high on kool-aid when I came up with the bet, or do I have a legit chance to eat free for a week? I hope I win... otherwise I have some explaining to do when the wife sees the credit card statement. :wideeyed:

I hope you win. but betting on us is a scary thing to do.

I think you made a stupid bet, but I hope you win. I wonder if many of the posters projecting a huge victory follow college football in any way shape or form because anyone who does would realize that history is really stacked up against us to win by 21 points.

First, in the last five years, N.D. State has played four Division I opponents. In 2006, they beat Ball State 29-24 and lost at Minnesota 10-9. In 2007, they beat Minnesota 27-21. In 2008, they lost at Wyomin 16-13. In short, they are 2-2 against I-A teams in the last three years and their biggest loss was by 3 measly points.

Second, North Dakota State in simply much better than the South Dakota team we beat last year as they play in Gateway conference. I think we all know our record against Gateway teams is far from perfect.

So, while I certainly hope you win, I don't think this is a solid bet. If we beat them by more than 21 points it will say a great deal baout our team and our new staff. That ssaid, I could see us winning 5 to 6 games this year even if we don't blow them out by 3+ touchdowns. If we do win BIG, it will probably have at least soemthing to do with half of their team being out for DUI's and thuggery.

Not only should ISU pound NDSU anyway, NDSU has several key players that are suspended. I can't remember exactly how many NDSU starters are going to be out for this game, but its substantial. We should pound NDSU at full stength, let alone a depeleted NDSU team. I'd say your bet is solid bro.

I actually have few more guys that would take the bet, but with more people there is more and more money I would be out of if Cyclones don't deliver. How far do I dare go? Maybe $100 worth?

Bet as much as you can stomach losing.

I am not sure how many either, but I do recall it was quite a few guys, and a school like NDSU is going to have a pretty big dropoff from starters to reserves. The OP should be okay if the Cyclones and CPR approach this game as a chance to prove they are an improving team.

Didn't SDSU beat NDSU last two seasons?

Well, so far it seems it's a split. About half think it's a good bet and half think otherwise. I can take 50/50 chance.

This.

I know you NDSU fans are proud of your team and like your chances of picking on a BCS program that is a traditional cellar dweller in football, but honestly how deep is your team?

We Know.

SDSU > NDSU

I heard that the SDSU vs NDSU game last year was a joke.

At least it was witnessed by all of 18,000 fans.

SDSU was terrible and went to NDSU and smacked them on their home field.
