The article states that 11k tickets were sold through ISU, this was as of last week based on what I heard on the radio the other day. At the same time KSU had sold 9k tickets through their school. Again, those are tickets just sold through the schools.

I had heard the other day there was a total of 35k tickets sold and they were expecting about 40k for the game.

I'm really tired of all the negativity about this game. ANyone remember the Eddie Robinson Classic? If you made the trip down for that game you would be excited about this one too! It was one of the most fun atmospheres I've ever been in for a college game. For those of you asking about the KC fans, we didn't get them through ISU. Anyone with Chief's season tickets gor first priority on seating, and most others got them through Ticketmaster. A huge amount of KC ISU fans don't have season tickets in Ames so they just got them through other means. As a KC Cyclone who drives up to Ames for 90% of the home games, it rather annoys me how mutch everyone is complaining about making the trip down here once (well, hopefully twice in two years). THis isn't a bad idea, there will be 45-50k ppl at the game, and we will essentially get two home games out of the deal when we go back again next year instead of going to the Manhattan to play.

Is anyone else amazed as I am to read that ISU is averaging 50K at home games thus far? Yeah, we are 3-1 but we were coming off a 2-10 season. I'm very impressed with how many fans have turned out despite some rough economic times.

HEY NEGATIVE NANCIES - READ the Article.

Particuarly this part -
About 11,000 tickets were sold by the school, he said.

The school wasn't the only ones selling tickets. I bet half of ISU's sales were student section tickets. I'm sure a lot of alum went through the KC chiefs / ticket master to buy.

Quit with the ********. We were garunteed a certain amount of money to do this - and the Athletics Department decided it benefited us financially. Not to mention I'm sure the team will enjoy it.

And, my family just said they want to stay home, so we will be changing our plans.

I understand the benefits, but there are a lot of costs.

I will support the game but would be there if the game were in Ames.

But recognize that many are struggling with it.

I think the Fans should enjoy it too! I think it's Awesome! (and not just because I live in KC) What a great opportunity for a weekend getaway to a nearby destination with lots going on.

If you have never been to an ISU event in KC you're missing out. Cyclone Power will be strong this weekend no matter what all they Debbie Downers say!

It will be a cold day in hell for me to miss an ISU home game or an ISU game in KC. Nobody in the group I'm going with has purchased tickets yet. I didn't want to get them through ISU just because I thought I could get better seats by going to the ticket window the morning of the game. I hope I'm wrong...I hope I'm stuck in the corner somewhere but that doesn't sound too possible right now.

I hope there are more people like myself, procrastinators that wait until gameday.

It's appealing to me but I totally understand why it would not be to others. We will find out Sat if this was a swing and miss by Pollard.

On the surface, it seems like he simply wanted to outsource a game to keep season ticket prices the "same". Getting this lump sum that everyone is so stoked about is not as important as keeping your fans happy IMO.

I don't get the nay sayers on this. I'm stuck in Des Moines. I'd kill to go down there. It's a great fun city, cool NFL venue, and will have the bowl game feel. Everyone complains about giving up a home game, but you LOSE an away game next year.

Impossible to be a swing and a miss. Playing two games the next two years in KC which will bring ISU $1.8 Million (number could be greater if we sell more tickets this year or next year) > playing one home game the next two years which will bring ISU $1 Million.

It also gives us only 4 true road games next year with a very difficult schedule.

More importantly, why buy through ISU if you're not a big donor? Assuming the ISU Athletic Department uses the same ranking system with these tickets as they do with season/away game tickets, lower-level donors would get stuck with crappy seats. Go through Ticketmaster, seat quality may VASTLY improve. I guarantee I don't get the seats I'll be standing in front of (30 yard line, first 5 rows or so) going through ISU.

You two touches hit the nail on the head. This only claims 11,000 were sold through the ISU ticket office. Not Ticketmaster or any reseller.

I'm cool with the game in KC. It affects me but that's OK.

#1 $1,000,000 vs $1,800,000+

#2 It's NOT a home game for K-State. Are people too thick to pull up this new invention known as a map? Roughly 120 miles from Manhatten to KC. 200 from Ames to KC. Are our games in Iowa City home games because they're 120 miles away? No. The difference between 120 and 200 is not going to keep 99% of people away from driving.

#3 Guaranteed win if it's at home? What football team have you all been watching? We didn't win a single conference game at home last year. We haven't won a conference game on the road since 2005. We took one off the schedule for next year.

At least we're outselling KSU.

The only thing that I find surprising is some of our fans acting like this whole concept of playing at a neutral site is some bizarre trick concocted by JP to **** them off. The whole Big 12 South plays at a neutral site this year I believe, and 2/3rds of the North does. This is VERY common for schools to play neutral site games at an NFL stadium. I'm pumped for it, and think it's going to be a lot of fun.

I'm not going to pay that kind of money to travel that far and watch a crappy KSU team. That's speaking only for myself. If it was at home I'd be there with 2 others.

My guess is that you would pay less for 2 or 4 people to go to KC than you would to go to JTS for a game. $60 tickets for JTS while you can get $25 tickets for the KC game.

Cost really isn't an excuse for not going to this game.

Also, I know that A LOT of people just bought their tickets through Ticketmaster...not through ISU. Like others have said, if we sold 11k through ISU, we should easily have 15-20k at the game.

Do any of you remeber going to KC in 2002? It was an awesome atmosphere and a great weekend getaway for thousands of Cyclone fans.

I have been waiting ever since to see a game in KC again. Just show up, have fun, and then you will understand JP's reasoning. That is all.

I got tickets through ticketmaster and I know of a number of other people that did the same.

This.

We bought ours through ISU but wish we would have got 'em via Ticketmaster as they had better seats available. I know a lot of people went the Ticketmaster route.

I don't expect attendance to be amazing but I am sure there will be more than 11k ISU fans there.
