My first thought was Fizer, then Tinsley. But I might go the route of Willoughby, Hoiberg or maybe Stevie Johnson.

Here's why: A PG like Tinsley would make the most sense, but I sometimes think Diante is OK as a sort of second-point guard with Colvin at point and the front line is at least solid.

I think what could make a huge impact would be a dependable shooter from mid- to long-range. A few well-timed 3's probably could've gained 4 more wins alone.

Then again, you could go the rebounding route, too, and you might come up with an entirely different list. Or FT shooting.

Etc.

Kantrail Horton: Plays tough. Can shoot the rock from outside. Can handle the rock. Can play solid defense. All issues we have.

Hell, Sean Haluska. Not the most talented guy, but I'd love to see his effort rub off on some other players, and no way Clemente or any other guard that has torched us this year does that.

I think we are pretty strong at the PG w/ colvin starting to really see the floor better and better each night, and once he settles down a little more his shot will start to shine. My first thought was Willoughby, he was the man, clutch, played really hard and definsively hustled! Grant the fact that he was playing like 40 min. most games and still could shoot any shot at the end of the game. But another good would be CATO. We need a true 5 man. somone that will stop the other team from getting 4 offensive rebounds. Someone that could actualy reward the team with stops on the defensive side, not to mention his ability to block shots and start the transition game.

Tinsley, hands down.

DG could be the second best PG in the history of ISU and Tinsley would be a huge upgrade, he was just that good. And no single position in college basketball can affect the performance of your team like a good PG.

Surely you are joking. I'm not even convinced he is the best on this team. Hornacek, Halloway, Blaylock, Taylor, are just some that are leaps and bounds ahead of DG. Not an attack on DG, he gives his heart but talent wise no way he is 2nd best in ISU history. Not close.

who would it be?

I was thinking of which player would come in and make the most impact right away and help this team win.

I picked the Mayor for his leadership and shooting ability. I was really stuck between him and Tinsley.

Tinsley. There is no question if what you are wanting is instant impact. This team would be sick with a guard that could get the ball inside and be a threat to score himself.

are you ********? He was pointing out that EVEN IF DG was second best ever he would have a long way to go to be as good as Tinsley. He was not at all saying DG is second best. His point was Tinsley is so far above any other guard we have ever had talent wise that it wouldn't even be close no matter who was number 2.

All of us who said JT are right. Also for years i've have wondered who the best player to ever play for us is. Reading through the post and thinking alot. It is Jamaal Tinsley. I think I can say that without thinking twice.

Tinsley wouldn't fit in McD style of play...bad pick. Dedric Willoughby would be perfect.

Gary Thompson. For goodness sakes, the dude was voted ahead of Wilt Chamberlain as conference player of the year. Phog Allen called him the best ball player the conference had ever seen.

Nothing against Tinsley, but did anyone see Tinsley vs. Baylor? Vs. Hampton? Thompson would have turned those miserable losses into a beatdown in our favor.

Put the Roland Rocket on this team, and they beat Northwestern, Texas, K-State, Tech and Oklahoma.

Did you see Gary Thompson in that game against Oklahoma A&M. He cost us the game.

All would be a step up:
(in no particular order)
Terry Woods
Skip McCoy
Eric Heft
J. Tinsley
J. Hornacek
Ron Bayless

We need a better point guard!

Skip McCoy! I love it!!! How about Belefia Parks or Travis Spivey??? :jimlad:

This is the easiest question I have ever answered. Jamaal Tinsley. Put Tinsley at the point with this team and we are probably a Sweet Sixteen team.
