Re: Still crickets from the AD

I too think McD. is done at ISU. I think JP has told McD. that this will be his last year. No Coment leads me to believe that JP is out searching for a coach. This is a wild guess. I have been all over McD. this year, but I would like to see him get one more shot...crazy! I think the program might be better off keeping him for another year.

Pollard has no obligation to make a comment until after the season is done, and at that point he really doesn't have to. He has McD until 2015 at this point. He doesn't owe anyone anything, except for making smart decisions for ISU and his job. I wish everyone would take a breath and stop getting so upset. McD is a great person and ambassaor for our University, he isn't winning, but still doesn't deserve most of the things people are posting about.

This is true, all the more reason to see if we can keep him on board as an assistant to BG or someone

Re: Still crickets from the AD

I don't need the new coach to be squeky clean and I would actually prefer them to toe the line a tad more....but I don't want a new coach to have 4 DUI's. Can't hire Billy G. Wouldn't go over well at all

Gillespie is not going to be our next coach. It's pretty obvious those rumors were started by someone from his camp just to get his name out there again.

Re: Still crickets from the AD

What does it all mean Bassel?

My thoughts:

Greg is gone. At this point, if Pollard had any intention of keeping Greg, he would have had to make some public statement supporting Greg to give him some backing going into next season.

Exactly.

JP would not be silent if he wasn't at least considering making a move. A whole lot of smoke out there. I think last night was GMs last game at Hilton.

Re: Is Pollard even gonna address this?

But then who will we blame when PR has a losing season? Did JP just get super lucky in his hiring or shoud he get some credit for bringing him in?

PR will have a losing season in 2010.

Maybe he is silent because he is contimplating his next career move too. Too indifferent to make a statement. Looking for a way to get back to Wisconsin.

he does not have the charisma to get the WI job. sorry.

McD back next year????? Common boys, you didn't see the card being played in the fall?

The family already gave away the first clue when Doug signed with UNI. Maybe it was a stretch to come to play in the Big 12, but I have a feeling the McD's saw the writing on the wall and didn't want the awkwardness of Doug having to transfter after his Dad was fired/resigned.....just one guys thoughts

That same thought was expressed by Matt on KXNO today. I don't mean any disrespect, but I think that's rediculous. Do you honestly think that Mac wanted his son to go to UNI because Mac didn't think he would keep his job? Give me a break.

At the time of Doug's UNI signing I though nothing of it, but I now am in line with your thinking. It makes much more sense now...

Give me a break! Do you honestly think that Mac encouraged his son to play for UNI because Mac didn't think he would keep his job here? Do you suppose that maybe, just maybe, the family felt it would be easier for both if Doug didn't play for his dad?

Sure, but most kids at that level do end up playing for their dad. Infact, I am trying to think of one that played D1 that didn't play for their dad.

I don't think it was the only reason, but I think if anything it was Doug's decision not to take that chance.

I think the biggest mistake in all of this was the extension. I never understood why it was given in the first place and now, with the way the economy is, pretty much has us stuck in a hole.

Just who did develop the original contract?

I agree - and I'm trying to think of one too. Lon Kruger's son started at Arizona State, but then ended up transferring to UNLV to play for his dad.

You do realize that Jake and Mac are best friends, right? Plus Tre signed off on the deal, so Jake better not leave.

You do realize that Greg is proud UNI alum, and contributes a lot of money to UNI, right?

You do realize that Doug is a perfect fit for what UNI does, right? He will be a better version of Adam Koch, who was just won the Larry Bird Award as player of the year in the Valley.

I still think Dougie should redshirt, and get stronger, but I think he will be just fine if he doesn't.

Mac will never go back to UNI because they don't want him.

Unless Jacobsen is hired away...even then their program is in better shape than ours. No way the fans take a step back and bring in a failed coach.

Coach Mac is a J.P. hire. If J.P. is not going to stand up for his man, why should anyone else. J.P. is the most "disloyal" cut throat A.D. I can recall. When he sets the example of hanging folks out to dry, it is "illogical" to expect loyalty to J.P. Less Kool-aid; more big picture analysis is in order. Coach is responsible for his team, J.P. is responsible for the coach, and Prez is responsible for J.P.---pretty simple.

There are a lot of UNI fans that would take Mac back.

I don't think that is the way that they will go, Kyle Green gets the job when Jake leaves.

I don't think Jake is leaving. I think what has happened to Mac here has been upsetting, and eye opening at the same time. Plus, if Kyle Green gets the job, he and Mac are not best of friends. Kyle was on ths staff under Mac, and their personality conflict caused him to leave for another job.

I don't think that Mrs. McDermott would not have signed off on Doug going to UNI if she thought that Jake was going to leave.

Dags can correct me on this if I am wrong.
