This. I wish Matt or Ken would read this. But instead, they just spout off just like Marty and Ken did. Matt is picking up right where Marty left off. Good luck with that in the ratings department.
I was going to make this point when I called in...except Matt pulled the plug on me.

i remember many games with floyd at the helm. i remember the day he got hired away to chicago. i remember those times, and yes, maybe i wasnt around for some of those guys but i am still aware of what they did for this program

Keep being a fan. It's fine to have those opinions. Just realize that when you attack someone that don't expect them to sit there and take it. I would suggest that in the future you choose more appropriate tone to communicate your feelings.

How did this email ever get out? How did Deace get the email?

I remember some radio jocks talking about certain topics, people complaining and then telling them something to the effect of "you dont like it, turn the dial". The radio personalities only really cared about what sponsors (donors) thought.
How different is that than what Pollard did? He might not have handled it the best, but I see no big whoop here. Move along nothing to see here, football and basketball are pretty much over, they have nothing to talk about. It's more entertaining listing about the best 70's songs ever or what happened on American Idol last night.

Why wouldn't you buy tickets through the athletic department? I realize many don't, but I want to know why you never did.

In fairness, ive had season tickets to every game for FB since 03, BB from 03-08 (and have gone to many games since on available tickets my dad has had), but the AD has no record of my name on these tickets, as for a chunk of those i was in the bands, and since then i've bought through my dad's account, since he's at a higher level than me (and yes, i myself am still a donor). The only tickets on my account are some hillside tix a friend bought through me, and a set of ncaa volleyball tix i got last fall.

This whole thing would have been a lot less of a deal if Matt and Miller did not say the email said something it did not. The response was in an effort to make you think about what you were doing. You sent a pretty hostile e-mail to an AD. An AD you have given no money to. He did not say you were not a fan. He simply said there were a lot more constructive ways to support the program than to write an email in the fashion you did. Had you been polite he would have been more polite. Instead you wrote that with an attitude. What did you expect from it? Again, he did not say you were not a fan because you don't donate. He said there were other avenues to better the program. You also gave him an ultimatum. You said as long as Mac is here you will not donate. Ok, well Mac is going to be here so you aren't donating. Are you not doing the same thing as he would be had he said he would not listen to you if you do not donate? If you don't donate, he shrugs your opinion off, if he doesn't make a change you don't donate. That sound like the same type of a deal to me.

You say that you didn't want this attention? Please. You sent this to a sports talk radio show. One that is listened to by quite a few people. Did you expect a private e-mail back from Deace and Miller giving their opinion? Come on, you knew what you were doing when you sent that. I could see where you didn't know where it would lead but you knew it would be public.

Pollard handled this poorly, however he did not say what Matt continues to insist he said. He did not say this kid was not a fan. Nowhere does it say that.

mr89ia-I will give you a pass on this for the most part. I don't think you knew all that would come of this. Matt Perrault blew this completely out of proportion and inserted his own meaning into Pollards email. I hope you can read through the email and see that.

Murphy and Fales discussed the topic on their show too and had the same interpretation of Pollard's response. Apparently Miller and Deace felt the same way.

There's a lot more smack and bravado than brains on display in this thread.

Pollard's response was incredibly stupid and shortsighted. The response, if any, should have been to the effect of, "thanks for your thoughts, I hope we're able to win you back as a fan in the future."

That, or nothing.

Pollard's response, having now been made public, will justifiably offend a lot of people who consider themselves die-hard ISU fans. My guess is that an apology will be forthcoming from Pollard. And it turns out that Pollard's assumptions about whether the kid and his family have supported ISU athletics as ticket buyers were dead wrong.

I can't believe Pollard allowed one of these kinds of e-mails, of which AD's regularly get a truckload, to get under his skin enough to respond as he did. It really doesn't speak well of Pollard's maturity or judgment.

likely because he's a basically a child. not yet two years removed from high school. Probably scrimped and saved every nickel he earned mowing lawns to buy a ticket to watch his favorite team (besides Marquette) play basketball. Went to the game, and OH NO, the Clones lost!!! What a waste! Someone must pay. Pulled out his favorite red crayon and sat down to write a nasty letter to Jamie Pollard, who ruined his special day.

As if we didn't have enough feedback from those that don't matter.... we get a hawkeye joining in.

Its funny the way M&M's show is totally lambasted on here yet Chris Williams is a regular guest on the show.

Ok, yeah, I shouldn't have singled just them out. We need to face it, all those guys are going to interpret a letter in which is the most shocking no matter if that is what it means or not.

MR89IA,

You are 20 years old. You don't remember Hoiberg playing as he hasn't played at Iowa State in 15 years and I doubt you remembered his career when you were the ages of 1-5.

You also have never carried a job of any real responsibility more than likely. For you to comment on what Greg can or can not do, and than to also comment on Pollards job security is laughable. I am sure Pollard really is worried that a 20 year old kid thinks his job is on the line.

You ask Jamie, "why should I buy a ticket to a game next year?" Well...why would he worry about that when you haven't bought a ticket before anyways? Jamie has it right kid and you have it wrong. Rather than complaining, why don't you be part of the solution (when you are old enough and have a job) and became a member of the Cyclone Club? Until then your threats of not buying a ticket are like me threatening Carrie Underwood that I won't go on a date with her....neither were ever going to happen anyway...so who cares?

There are a select few like Matt Perault and other fans that hate all things Jamie Pollard and thus will take any opportunity possible to drag him through the mud. That is the only reason 100% of the Cyclone population isn't calling you an immature kid and completely making fun of your juvenille email that was full of untrue statements and empty threats
