Look at the Directors Cup, Our Football, WBB, Volleyball, and wrestling program. Then I encourage you to look at the our budget compared to when he got here. Those numbers alone do not do justice. He has also cut the State funding for the AD therefor increasing donations and such more than actually shown by pure budget numbers. You are wrong here without a doubt. You can continue to do this if you like but I will continue to correct your garbage.

I would dismiss this as a typo however "I" and "E" are nowhere near each other. I question you knowledge on ISU athletics because of this. Paired with your ignorance on what JP has done, I would classify you as a troll.

This is interesting

According to the sports information at ISU we can expect some drastic changes in the comming year as it pertains to ISU basketball.

Maybe not but he did not call BF out or even indicate he was a poor coach. I believe his intent was to point out BF has been successful without holding on to every single player. People will make it what they want though to make JP look bad so I am probably wasting my time here.

So if BF can make it with the same amount of transfers, why can't McD? If McDermott was even in the least bit successful, then this transfer problem wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, that's just not true. I don't know if he threw BF under the bus, but it's certainly not a fair comparison between the programs.

I think the whole point that JP was making in bringing up BF is that the trend in all of college basketball seems to be that many players will only be on teams temporarily. If they are too good they go pro. And they can transfer for any apparent reason.

A while ago I wondered why he was blocked.... this solidifies everything.

Somewhere in the U.S.
It made no sense to bring BF into the picture. Mainly because the Men's game in college basketball is not comparable to the Women's game at all. Not the same budget, not the same salaries, nothing. Plus making it to the NBA is a whole lot more lucrative than making it to the WNBA. WBB and MBB programs should never be equated in the way that JP did it.

Face it....JP was just trying to take some of the pressure off GMac (and off himself) by dragging a very successful and respected coach into the picture and trying to equate the situations. It's nonsense. Too bad it works on some people.

Yes, he makes money...although there is more than one job responsibility of the AD. If this were any other school, I guarantee you we wouldn't be increasing our revenue. Can you name any other BCS school in the nation which increases its season tickets sold a few months after going 3-8 in Football? Seriously...most schools would say "this is ********, I'm not going to be a new season ticket holder when we go 3-8."

The reason why our revenue increases is because we are already passionate about ISU. While this is good, I can almost guarantee you this wouldn't happen at most BCS schools if the two main sports were mediocre or worse.

So while yes, I agree he increases revenue...he also has a responsibility to create winning programs. Football might be on the upswing, although we don't know until this year starts. Men's Basketball is horrible and at least women's basketball is fairly good.

Looks to me like JP record has been about 9-1 with the only loss being men's bball this year. That is a better record than Greg.

I understand but the same stuff was not happening when we were successful, even more successful before he got here. He has one bad program. That is not grounds to get rid of him. I know we need to win and I know we are more forgiving than other fan bases in that respect but the guy is trying and he has worked hard to make this program win. It comes down to not having the resources to buy the contract out. Yes the contract was bad.

What a great point. Pollard is very fortunate that his first AD job is Iowa State, where the fan base is so loyal and almost grateful. The credit given to JP for revenue generation is misplaced - that credit goes to the fans. Our loyalty has been in our DNA for years - it didn't just start when Pollard came.
Remember, Christy Johnson said she was "picky" when she chose to coach at Iowa State (and BVD who hired her), and her reason was our tremendous womens' bb attendance. CJ knew that if she built it, they would come for her too.
Pollard is lucky to be here.

Whoops, late at night, long day, sorry. I notice you didn't dispute the real substance of the argument though.

These guys said it for me so no reason to type the same thing again. These are our (the fans) teams and programs, not Pollard's. He's a hired hand who will move on to a better job if one comes along, while at the same time not excepting the blame for situations he is responsible for while he is here.
