I took a look at the Gonzaga forums because I had some free time. Sure was refreshing to see almost every poster thank him for his time and wish him well on his transfer instead of melting down and degrading the kid. Of course, it happens everywhere, right? Too many small people on this board....

See Dominique Buckley, Cory Johnson, Marcus Brister. All guys that played a similar role to Grant on their team.

If Adam Morrison transferred from Gonzaga the Interweb in Washington wouldn't be wishing him well. It is unfortunate what some people write about college age kids on here sometimes, but don't act like this site is any different than anywhere else.

According to Matt Perrault's Twitter, he has a source telling him that Gibbs has asked for his release from Gonzaga.

I haven't seen him play for Gonzaga. His stats are underwhelming, but he was a redshirt freshman. He's got pretty good size, he was a relatively highly touted kid out of Linn-Mar, and I know Iowa and ISU were both after him.

Should we be after him?

Saw a few Zags games last year in person and on TV (being in Spokane thats all you get) and I thought he looked like he belonged on the court. Played with a quiet confidence, had a nice stroke, could take to the hoop......

I would say the situation is more comparable with Colvin leaving. If you were willing to conced that, there are two very seperate levels of respect being paid by the two boards.

The main difference being that Gonzaga has had nowhere the level of attrition that ISU has had over the past 4-5 years. When your school is losing an average of 3-4 players a year, including stars and starters, people start to lose it.

Did Gibbs get suspended for not being a "team player?" I bet they wouldnt give him quite the level of love they are now, if he were as arrogant as Colvin at times this year.

You guys are right, those are both great reasons to publicly ridicule someone. What was I thinking...

So much that he didnt come here the first time around.
I guess I don't understand why we wouldn't have a chance even if he does love McDermott. After the dissapointment of the last years here I would think he would maybe still like Mac but maybe not want to play for him...especially sisce he didn't choose ISU the 1st time around...unless it was all about Mac and not really the university.

From what I have been hearing he will be going to UNI. Might be looking into it too much but it explains why he was tweeting so much about their run in the NCAA tourney.

He is very good friends with Mahoney...

He absolutely loves Gonzaga so that was pretty much the only reason he went there to begin with.

This whole love thing with Grant is getting a little confusing. In many posts I have seen he just "loves" McDermott. Then I have seen this where he just "loves" Gonzaga. He didn't go with a coach he "loves" because he "loved" a university more. Now he has left the "love" of his life for what.......the coach he "loved" before but spurned to be at the school he just "loves"? Why should we take a player who has, or is turning his nose up to everyone he "loves"? It's high time we stop taking sloppy seconds. Or in this case.....thirds.

Yeah...Came down to ISU or Gonzaga...If I remember right, even his parents were pulling for ISU.

As I recall McD was in pretty early but Wisconsin was a big factor then also. They are not now. I have read that it will be Iowa, UNI, ISU or Creighton. Do not count out McD taking him at Creighton considering his past relationship with him. I bet he has already made contact. I am not sure about their scolly situation.
