Texas, the state, has about 25 million people. Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri combined have about 12 million people. That's certainly much less than Texas, but not nothing.

This sucks. It really sucks. Why did we not pick up and leave with the other 5? We could join NU and CU and vote the conference out of existence and screw Texas. We're not going to make very much more money for at least 4 or 5 years but for all we know, there won't be a Big XII in 4 or 5 years!!!

Go where?

So will we have to give our 10 million Cyclone Fanatic credits back because we don't get any of the exit fees?

So we had a bona fide offer from the Big East? I missed that. I just saw a statement that Villanova, Providence and St. John's threatened to leave if ISU was invited. :wideeyed:

Who knows if there was a bona fide offer? You're right, probably not, but why do we like the status quo when there's the possibility of similar money in a better situation competitively for our university?

Beebe just said "we need each other." No, we all need Texas, even if it means we have to bend over every day. We might as well play the Texas state song before every Big XII game. Screw this.

I agree, there wasn't much of an option for us. Still, if there was any hope of us going to the Big East, I would have taken it. We are getting SCREWED. No more financial benefit for at least 4-5 years. There may be no conference then. Now, TX/A&M/OU are getting ALL of the penalty fees from CU and NU. This is a temporary fix until Texas gets their BEVO network off the ground, and then the conference will fall again.

First, that was from a jaded columnist from Providence who was bitter about the conference possibly spreading west.

Second, if there really was an offer from the Big East in the works, and the projection of ~$15 million shared equally among all members was legit - funny how 12 hours after everyone gets done celebrating it turns out THIS would have been the better offer. Funny how not 6 hours ago everyone was saying that getting screwed over by Texas wasn't a big deal...

You go to bed with a *****, you wake up with a *****.

Getting 3 mill from the Mountain West vs taking it in the shorts from Texas and getting 14 mill a year from the Big 12? Perhaps we chose the Devil We Know instead of the Devil We Dont Know.

But increase in Big 12 revenue will help get the regents off our backs and work to make our athletic department "self sufficient", correct??

You must have missed the part where there is no new tv contract and most likely won't be for 4 years. So we split Colorado's revenue and Nebraska's revenue..... WAIT... I bet those 5 AD's just wet themselves and gave that all to Texas, Texas A&M, and OU as well. If we stay in this BS version of the Big XII we are not going to be allowed to compete at ALL!!!!!! Texas will make sure of that and so will their little stooge Beebe. What a crock of ****.

Yup.

-much more difficult conference schedule
-no guarantee of more tv money
-no buyout money from NU\CU
-no championship (meaning no chance of someone knocking off the bigs at the end)?

Especially with the future media just being that, 'in the future'.. i almost guarantee texas plays these games again. Hopefully the door is open for the big east next time...

We definitely got pretty hosed. Loss of power but not much real benefit.

Who knows? Nebraska says they don't owe any exit money. Colorado is broke and can't pay. So maybe the rest of us conceded a big fat nothing. Nebraska will argue that there are no mitigated damages since not all of the conference members get to share in those damages. It could be tied up in court for years. And the conference shouldn't pay for the lawyers. 7-3 vote that we drop the case.

We pretty much have a band aid over an infected, nasty, deep cut. I can't believe that Texas, OU, and A&M got all the buy out money. Well actually I can, which makes it more depressing.

I really wish the "ISU, KU, KSU, MU" would try to strike a deal with OU, OSU...then bring in Tt and Baylor after a deal was brokered. Hang A&M and UT out to dry, create a new BIG 8.

And what other choice(s) does ISU have. NO OTHER CONFERENCE WANTED ISU.

Its not a fine. The conference will get their money, it comes in the form of withholding their revenue distributions.
