announcer at Jack Trice. The fans had no idea there were penalties, what they were, what was going on half of the time. Probably the worst call I've seen at any Big 12, Big 10, or SEC football game I've attended.

Great win by the Clones. Way to go D!!!

Amen brother. Don't know who the gentleman is and I'm sure he's a good guy, but damn novice fans don't have a clue whats going on. I end up finding out what happened on jumbotron replays.

That's not his job. It's the referees, and the microphone system wasn't working. I don't know if I've ever been at Jack Trice and heard the announcer say what the penalty was. Or maybe fans just need to see what the dude in stripes is signaling.

This. It's not the PA guy's job to relay penalties. He may something like "Flag on the Play" but that's it.

If the mics aren't working, that sucks, but it's not like the refs don't signal the penalties. The hand signals haven't changed. It's pretty easy to tell what is being called.

Bring a radio if you want to hear a play by play.

I'd rather have JP focus on the big things that will take us to the next level.

Ugg. I wish Jamie didn't do such a good job personally responding to emails because it has led to people thinking that every single thing that falls under the athletic umbrella is his fault and/or oversight.

I am getting a little tired of the "and that's another cylone........first down" call by the announcer. A few people around me were mentioning "busch league" about the first down screams. Act like we've been there before.

Jeez....why can't the fans have fun....this is not the NFL.

Go to any other college venue and you will see variations of this along with "sweet caroline".

Those few people must be 'bush league" in terms of just having a good time.

Agree 100%. We stole that from K-State and it sucks anyway. The announcer even said it on the first first down of the year, which doesn't make sense, if you think about it.

I don't mind if it is done every once in a while. It just gets a little annoying when we have 3 first downs in a row and he does it every time. I also wouldn't mind it if he just said "thats another Cyclone" and just the fans said "first down". But why does he also have to scream "first down" to the point of the speakers distorting? It should also stop when the game is out of hand or first downs are irrelevant.

To the earlier poster, I have no problem with sweet caroline, and actually watching the team get a first down is fun for me, not yelling it.

I don't think the announcer is the problem, but we have got to have the worst sound system in the Big XII. Its been this way since last year, but with the NW wind on Thursday, on the north end of the stadium you could not hear anything being said over the sound system and it really sounds like crap.

Watch the referee, he will tell you what the call is with the hand signals. Better yet, watch the game and know the rules and you'll know what the call is before the referee even announces it.

The first down chant is one of the best things we do. It annoys the crap out of people...particularly the opposing team.

That is the point.

actually it does. You start the game with a First and ten, so when you get a first down that would be.......yep you guessed it, another first down.

Makes you feel like the team has some momentum, too. I like that about it.
And it's fun, which is good. Except that I hate fun. Oh, man, I'm all tied up in knots....

If we're addressing things, I was really pleased while I checked out the new concession stands. Attractive setup, and I really like the new varieties of stuff.

And those loaded Cy's Tots helped me pretend to be warm in the 3rd quarter while I missed all that weight I lost. So good stuff on the concession front.

Chicken cheesesteak---good stuff.
