Any thoughts on how the place is for kids? I'm a little worried about taking the kids to a place like that because they're kind of loud and messy.

Hmm..that's a tough one since I don't have kids myself. I WOULD say that it is much more similar to say Chuck's in Des Moines (which is very kid friendly) than Luccallan's as far as atmosphere.

They also have a smaller dining area off to the side from the main dining area (not a party room, just additional seating) where I don't think kids would disturb anyone.

GeAngelos is very good...I ate there several times when I lived in Ames. Luccillans didn't do anything for me, I wasn't impressed with the food

The canoli (not to be confused with cannoli) at GeAngelos is amazing. I don't think I've ever ordered anythin else when we've gone there, save one or two times.

my wife and I went to Pazzesco lastnight for our fourth and we'll be back. Good food, fast service and overall nice feel. Plus its nice to not have to eat on south duff.

Went tonight and it was really pretty good. Didn't try the steaks, but the pasta and dessert were worth it. We'll go back for sure.

Well, this catches me off-guard; I didn't know The Broiler had shut down. Good grief, the place had been a fixture in Ames well before me and my parents moved to Ames in '63. The same family owned the restaurant, IIRC, for two generations at least. I'm glad someone bought the building and is taking over the same niche. Me and my wife ate there, when it was The Broiler, for New Years Eve dinner a number of years.
Mmmm, Steak De-Burgo (or however they spelled it)

FYI: Mon-Sat has happy hour 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Half price drinks and appetizers in the bar. (or 2-fers if you'd rather think of it that way.)

Saw the Groupon today was a $25 gift certificate at Pazzesco Chop House for $12, I haven't been there, but I've been meaning to.

Great Food, I've had s few different items and all were amazing. The groupon will get you a nice steak or a couple pasta dishes. I'm not a fan of the location and I live on the west side of town and still forget its out there.
