2002 v. Iowa @ Kinnick. I was a senior in HS.

I grew up in a farm family, so we didn't get to many games. My dad went to ISU and my mom went to Iowa. I had gone to Kinnick a handful of times with my mom and grandparents, and we'd been to Hilton a few times as basketball season didn't conflict w/harvest.

I grew up cheering for both schools, but always took ISU head to head due to underdog status. By the time we went to this games I was at least 75% sure I was going to ISU. I didn't hate Iowa yet at that point in time, but it was really sweet chanting "LET'S GO STATE!" as Hawk fans filed out of Kinnick in the 4th quarter.

September of 1989 vs Iowa.......My new girlfriend invited me down from Minnesota for the game.....ISU (I think) was up at half time, but in the end the evil empire won.....

We had some kind of general admission pass, but no seat. We found seats in the old North endzone bleachers and I caught an Iowa extra point kick. Fast forward to 2010 and we are now married with 2 Lil Clone Club members and have had season tickets since the year Austin Flynn was a freshman quarterback!

I think mine was a Nebraska game in the mid 90's. Was in the upper deck with my dad. Since it was NU in the mid 90's we got killed. It was fun though!

No kidding. I bet his story is interesting. Since he's from Atlanta, maybe he just watched that Peach Bowl, fell in love w/ISU for some reason, and has continued to follow the team despite being unable to ever get to Ames.

It sounds improbable, but if he's serious, it's about the only thing that makes sense.

Really don't remember much about it, but Jim Myers introduced the single wing to ISC and beat Denver 10-0 in the first game of the 1957 season. Later that season Mighty Moe Nichols led the Cyclones in a 13-0 win over Nebraska. Unfortunately, after awakening football at ISC after a 20 year nap, Myers pulled a Chizic and left for better pay at TA&M.

I could start a whole new thread called "what was the coldest game you ever went to in Ames" but I'll refrain.

One game I remember being REALLY cold at was a 15-10 upset by the Clones over a ranked Oklahoma State team.

I also remember freezing my *** off at the first ISU night game, a 12-10 loss to Oklahoma. I don't remember if it was actually that cold that night or if I was under dressed.

You and I must of been two of the only 4-5,000 people there that day! If I am not mistaken that was the senior year for Thomas and Saunders was a feshman or sophmore.

My first Cyclone game was in 2000 against Ohio. It was the season opener and it had to have been 100 degrees. I was 6 years old and I remember not being able to see when everyone stood up. Anyone else remember this game?

There was a poll on the demographic, but I don't remember what it was called. If I recall correctly, it was something like
34.99% Men in 30's
25% Men in 20's
20% Men older than 30
20% Men younger than 20
.001% Women

Yeah I was a Soph at ISU... Hot day. We got into the student section 20 minutes before kickoff and sat in the upper deck. We noticed someone sitting alone halfway up the seats, then my buddy realized the guy was passed out with no one around him.

So we did our civic duty and 8 of us gathered around him and took a picture with the drunk passed out dude. Still have the pic somewhere. He woke up just after the picture only to fall over and a per mar guy noticing him.

I'm 30 and I feel old hearing that your first game was when I was going to college. Creepy actually...

And by looking at the stats.. All I can say is this site is one giant sausage fest.

1999 Kansas State. Played a great first half then K St scored a bunch in the second half and McCarney was running the ball with a few minutes left down by a score. Lost 35-28

I have no clue what game it would have been but it was in the 1979 season. Don't remember anything of it as I was 10 months old.

Man, you guys are young - and I'm not. Sometime in the 60's, '63 I think. Versus KU and watched Gayle Sayers run wild up and down the field. Don't remember the score, but it was ugly.

2005 season opener vs Illinois St.
Only missed 7 home games since then.

7 home games since 2005??? That is a full season of home games....

Since 1999 missed only 2 home games. When Baylor won their first road game luckily I was working. Then a wedding for the KU game 2 years ago when they came from behind.

November 9, 1991 ISU vs. Colorado
Magic Johnson had just announced he had HIV two days earlier. (I couldn't remember the year, but I remembered that, so I googled it.) It was the last game of the season. I think some one gave me and my Dad tickets. It snowed the day before, there was snow on the seats, and it was cooooold and windy. There was hardly anyone there. But there was this one group of Colorado fans in the upper deck on the east side. They must have really ****** someone off. Everyone in the ENTIRE section started to pummel them with snowballs. A security guard had to escort them out of the stands. ISU lost 17-14.

2002: Iowa State 45 Kansas 3

It was Mark Mangino's first game and Rutland and Seneca each had big games that day.
