I could care less about dunking on Aldrich, I'm very impressed with Ejim.

That is a hilariously true comparison. I can picture McD drawing up some elaborate play in a timeout to get the ball Brackins to win it then when Gilstrap touches the ball he just shouts "All right, let's do this! MARRRRQQUIIIISSS GILLLSTRAPPP" He would then charge down the lane and promptly get called for an offensive foul.
For what its worth Brackins did this a lot too. He just didn't do it while trying to drive to the basket. They had too. Nobody else could create anything in McDermott's offense.
I like how easy it is to talk **** about former players who really helped us.
Gilstrap would be a lot better in this offensive system than he was last year but Ejim will be better as a junior/senior probably.

Ejim is a team player. The kid plays relentless defense, and is always calm and collected while he is on the floor. He will always give your team a positive impact. Nothing against Gilstrap, he gave us a huge lift last year and we wouldn't be far with out him, but i'm going to have to go with Ejim on this one.

You never watched a game last year. Youtube, search Gilstrap Aldrich, watch it.

A yes, the old one play defines all defense.

I also forgot about Gilstrap's charging ability.

Still a tough call. Like you said, it will be interesting to see what Ejim does in conference play. I think one thing that you forget to consider is Gilstrap was asked to score with Brackins. He was the #2 option. Ejim is probably our #3-4 option right now. Not because he lack ability but because Scotty is shooting lights out and DG can get by most.

but wouldn't his poorer ball handling hurt him in this offense?

Not so much that this play makes him a better player, but to say that Ejim is that much better an athlete is just ludicrous. That play shows the athleticism of Gilstrap. I hope Ejim is a better athlete, but the difference is not great, if there at all.

I took Ejim. Gilstrap at this moment, if we had him from last year and Ejim from this year, knows the court better. Otherwise I think Ejim is stronger and will be better as good or better by end of season or next season.

BUT the systems they play under are VERY VERY different.

Would be interesting to see Gilstrap at college level in this system.

THANK NCAA again for another great favorable Ia State ruling.
