This thing is far from a done deal, but there is also a ton of smoke. These schools are talking and planning that is 100%, but just like any deal, there are a number of things that can kill it at any time.

You know, if any of that Texas/Notre Dame alliance crap was true, things could get realllllllllllllllllllll interesting. Texas/Oklahoma/Oklahoma State/Notre Dame join Big 10 or does Texas pull in Notre Dame to the Big 12, allowing them to keep NBC?

Per the OU Rivals Site:

Big Ten has eyes on OU/Texas (OU wont go leaving OSU behind)

OU/Texas will try to bring name teams to the league.

If the luring teams to the Big XII does not happen, Texas will rework ESPN or drop it entirely & OU/Texas/Tech/OSU will join Pac12

As in bring them to the Big 12?

This is very true. Still 11 days for this situation to change.

I think if Texas goes to the Big10 it isn't ND that goes with OU, OSU, and TX but Mizzou...then they still have contiguous states. And likely the Big10 would prefer KU to OSU if it would be possible to toss off OSU and KSU. Still think Texas is not going to big10. Too big of ego clash and has disaster written all over it.

Sounds good to me.

Drag BYU into that deal.

Two big names. Sure they have their own networks or deals or whatever, but it's a blockbuster.

This. Texas has a history of being the top dog, and **** you to everybody else. While they'd be a huge get for the B1G, it'd introduce the same instability we have here.

All I know is that I hope to God that the Big Ten never considers Texas again. If they become available, it means that Texas will have been a key figure in destroying TWO conferences in the past 20 years. No thanks.

According to aggieyell.com Texas A&M has been accepted into the SEC.

This cracks me the hell up. Texas can't leave without taking aTm with them, but aTm can go without Texas. And folks think that we are little brothers to the pukeyes. aTm is freaking welfare to Texas in that state. I would be embarassed to be an Aggie.

Eh, I don't know. I think Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State can throw a bit more weight around than Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Aggy is the middle aged bald guy who has a good looking, 20 something neighbor who pulls in all sorts of hot young broads. In Aggy's eyes, the SEC is their sports car.

Orangebloods.com - D-Day appears imminent for 10-member Big 12

Chip Brown at Orangebloods.com says August 22nd is D-Day for the Big 12. In the article he says:

Sources said Thursday the SEC would be interested in adding Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech in addition to Texas A&M to form a 16-team super conference. Florida State has also been mentioned as a possible target of the SEC, according to Big 12 sources.

Two officials at separate Big 12 schools said Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would stay in the Big 12 as long as the other schools were willing to stay together. A third official in the Big 12 said the remaining nine schools were "solid."

Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said Wednesday it would be Texas' goal to hold the Big 12 together. But if there wasn't sentiment for that he said Texas and a school like Notre Dame should look at starting their own conference. Dodds has said he is against Texas going independent.

A high-ranking official at a Big 12 school said the Pac-12 could re-enter the picture if Texas A&M leaves for the SEC. The official said Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott has indicated he would love to set up regional networks in Oklahoma and Texas Tech to accommodate Oklahoma and Oklahoma State as well as Texas and Texas Tech.

Scott didn't respond to an e-mail Thursday night.

Such a plan by Scott would require a complete re-working of the 20-year, $300 million Longhorn Network contract between Texas and ESPN, which is obviously a massive undertaking that would require Texas to give a little in terms of revenue sharing.

Stay tuned.

Hopefully, OU sees the value in staying in the Big 12. I see Larry Scott probably making an aggressive power play for some of these teams.

I sure as hell hope Dan Beebe is out being aggressive himself. Now is the time to start acting on the offensive in regards to the Big 12. Go get Houston. Go after BYU. Hell, bring in TCU.....they don't add anything in terms of TV market, but they would be an extremely solid football name that would help keep the Big 12 in the upper echelon of CFB.
