It's folks like you that preach gloom and doom that help spread the nonsense about the BXII going away. If you would preach a positive outlook like many of us then perhaps...just perhaps others would start to do the same as well.

Remember the saying, if you've got nothing good to say, then why say anything at all.

BXII...is a very viable conference and quite honestly has an appealing setup for teams to control their 3rd tier broadcasting rights. Quite frankly the BXII is the ONLY conference that allows a power school (or any school for that matter) to maximize its revenue.

Quit being a debbie downer/chicken little and be a bit more optimistic.

Its funny that you actually think my opinion makes a difference in the grand scheme of things. I am actually not being a debbie downer or chicken little, I am just looking into the future of things and basing it off the reality of which we live. Schools leaving a conference at a rapid pace does not make it stronger. I dont care by what convoluted pretzel thinking you use, 1/4 of a conference leaving does not strengthen it. There is a reason these schools left and it isnt because they werent able to beat a certain institution in athletics. You dont make decisions that affect your entire institution because you can't beat someone on the football field. You make these decisions based on what is good for business. Being in a conference with Texas is not good for business, atleast not when they start driving the bus down a mountainside.

To me the first step in being proactive needs to be coming up with ways to ensure we dont have schools pulling this crap every year. Find ways to stick it to the schools who are flirting with the idea of leaving, thats the first step in creating a stable conference. I think there are more pressing needs than finding ways to bring in other schools. Hurrying to fill vacancies isn't going to make anything more stable, the big 12 needs to take its time and make sure they are bringing in the right schools for the long run, rather than the quick fix..ie Houston, SMU etc...

This would have the exact opposite affect. You have to make the environment the schools are in better than the options they are offered. Your idea is essentially the same as a wife beater.

Your thoughts are promoting all of the hearsay (yes...hearsay) that the internet and would be talking heads want promoted. That does not mean that it will happen. Al 4 State is 100% right when he says the more people like you believe that information and talk about it, the more it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

The new B12 has a very appealing makeup and allows teams to maximize their revenue creation. Should ISU become a FB power, we would not want to be anywhere else.

By the way, we have not lost 1/4 of the teams (yet). The B12 can have a very strong future if the rest of you would get on board.

Seems to me the only conference that would allow them to keep their own network deal for all of their home games is the Big XII. So Notre Dame would be pocketing whatever money they make on the NBC deal as well as pocketing money from the Big XII tv deal. Add Notre Dame and that amount is sure to skyrocket when the first tier deal gets negotiated. Brian Kelly has also been adament about the need for Notre Dame to plant it's flag for recruiting in the state of Texas because he doesn't like recruiting in the Big 10 footprint. Trust me... Notre Dame would be making a very wise choice by joining the Big XII. Add Notre Dame and all of this talk about teams bailing for greener pastures elsewhere ends.... immediately.

Concessions could also be made by individual schools like Baylor, Kansas, Iowa State that don't have overly large stadiums that every other time they are scheduled to host Notre Dame that the game could be played at a neutral site. So ISU would play ND at home one season, play in South Bend the next season, and then play ND the next year at Soldier Field or Arrowhead Stadium. Anything is possible if the Big XII wants them bad enough.

I think that little Notre Dame plan there sounds interesting. I'd go to Soldier Field for that.

Add ND and it might pay for stadium expansion at several smaller stadiums. No way would I give up the home game for ND at a neutral site and not get a neutral site back for the away game at ND.

The big item for ND would be travel. And that is why I don't see them joining the Big XII. ND will stay independent and be in the Big East for everything else.

While ND is a Hail Mary (pun intended) ND is the only school that could solidify and unite the conference. That is why an all out attempt must be made - doesn't matter if it is a long shot.

Great, great post. Too bad the Longhorn bootlickers on this board can't see it. No school worthy of mention is going to join the Big 12 with the smothering ego of Texas still in play. A&M is a great, great school with a classy fan base and top academic reputation. They did not instigate this, the folks in Austin did. The Aggies are simply taking charge of their own future. I wish ISU had the same option.

I think the Big 12 could be a great conference for the future but I also think the 4 -16 team superconferences could make so much money that it would kill any other plan. What scares me is it looks like the SEC is thinking ahead and wants to pick their schools first. You don't think the PAC and Big 10 aren't gearing up right now? Texas has every reason to stay because of their TV contract but they are the only school that can pull that off and they are even having trouble selling it. If some of the other schools feel the 4 conferences is only a matter of time, then they are probably looking around for what's best for them right now.

It would be great if the remaining schools could be united but I don't think it's possible. If the Big 10 had any interest in any of the former North teams they would jump on it in a second. That's why the chances of this conference staying together is very slim.

Man, I don't get this crap about the Big XII being so weak. Every year we have as many bowl teams in as any other conference and win a good share as well. Almost every year the Big XII has the most or near the most teams in the BB tourney. Why are we having these issues? MU started the whine train when they got screwed on a bowl two years in a row? The spineless actions of NU leaving, rather than fighting UT? CU was a no-brainer, they should've been in the PAC a long time ago.

IF the Big XII could find viable replacements to the three that left wouldn't that quiet the folks that think the conference is doomed and keep the remaining members? Or will UT have to be put on a tight leash to not completely destroy their second conference in as many decades?

I suggest you do some research in what sort of institutional research that many of the B10 schools are involved in and then take a look at Notre Dame's Catholic value system.

Something should definitely jump off the page.

Superconferences will not happen unless Texas & ND get on board. Texas and ND have no desire to play this game. People think the PAC/BIG/SEC hold the cards. I say Texas/ND hold the cards. That is a big reason to support their position in all of this.
4 Superconferences will never happen until they can figure out what to do with Texas/ND. That is a high mountain to climb.

I agree 100% with this post. A lot on this board only views this way as there are no other options at this point. My question is if for some reason the Big 10 threw us an offer, would some on this board still want to play follow the leader with Texas? I doubt it. In the end if something better came around ISU fans would jump on it for the same reasons A&M did. I think deep down ISU fans know this conference is the worst in the country by a large margin.
