Well if appeasing UT with a 2nd game is what it's going to take to keep the conference in tact for ISU, K-state and Baylor, I think we should thank them.

Sounds like they saw a business opportunity.
This thread is so over the damn top it's nauseating.
The whole fact that they have their own network, and they have one game on there (and then all their other sports) was appeasing them. Where does it stop?
Not much of a conference anymore if we have to buy the longhorn network just to watch our own school's football games.
They are probably allowing K State to show it on their own network and paying them a pretty penny.
If the LHN is allowing K State to do that, that will drive up subscriptions for K States network. Its probably a pretty smart idea on K States behalf.

With Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Baylor even turning it down this isn't a unity thing.. its a dividing line

Well outside of maybe ISU and Baylor, K-state isn't in much of a position to argue with UT on things like this.
Maybe those schools turned UT down when they found out that K-state was interested.
Either way, they are the big dog in the conference (from a $$$ and TV set standpoint).
If all the other schools turned UT down, KState had tons of ability to say no too.

Honestly... Texas isn't in the driver seat as much as ESPN is at this point. To take a quote from the movie the Thomas Crown affair in reference to ESPN's actions...
"I saw the guy wreck a $100,000 boat because he liked the splash."
ESPN in a sense seems more then willing to destroy the Big XII and potentially damage college athletics beyond repair just for the hell of it. ESPN is making a boat load of cash already so what the hell is all of this for? ESPN will never own college football, they will never own all tv rights to college football, and they will never be the only outlet with broadcast rights for college football games, news, etc.... So really... ESPN is simply doing this because they want to see a splash... a big splash. Nothing more and nothing less.
I guess the only option at this point is for fans of the Big XII schools to start launching campaigns to contact their local cable and satellite providers and let them know that they will cancel their service if these providers pick up the LHN. These providers are already skeptical of picking it up and if their customers don't want them to pick it up then chances are it won't get picked up.
Exactly. Every team approached should have said no. This is a slippery slope. What happens next season with the new tv contract? Two conference games next season? Paging Cyphillis and no1fan we have continued separation in this disolving conference.
I have no problem with this. Really I don't . I don't see the big deal. I'm sure they paid KSU handsomely and as already mentioned, KSU likely will be able to broadcast it on their own streaming network.

I don't see what this changes. TAMU is going to leave anyway....I'm guessing Deloss Dodd's cleared this with OU prior to doing it.

Dodds is only going to do what ESPN tells him to do. Texas has backed themselves into a corner by signing this deal with ESPN. Consider ESPN as a loan shark at this point. ESPN only has one concern and that is getting paid on this 300 some million dollar "loan" they made with Texas. Texas has no power to do anything at this point and they can't go back and undo this deal. ESPN is now basically trying to commit extortion on the other Big XII members to help them get their money or else they will make sure that the Big XII doesn't survive. ESPN is really showing their true colors here.
Texas can go independent if they want but the LHN is a road block anywhere else they try to go. With their football program being the crown jewel they have to offer there is no way a conference is going to let them park all of their other sports in their conference if they don't get Texas football as well. Won't happen. That is tremendous leverage for any conference Texas would try to join to use against the Horns. Texas thought they were so damn smart and visionary by doing the LHN but right now it is nothing but an anchor tied around their legs in this big lake of cash that NCAA sports has become. It may very well turn out to be the biggest mistake they ever made.

So you're saying that UT is like the bully on the block pushing the smaller kids around. Then when the smaller kids find out why the bully acts the way he does they realize it's the overbearing father (ESPN) of the bully that is truly the one that is causing all the problems.
