If that is in fact a real quote from Stoops, that is very encouraging.

The good news is stoops responded. The bad news is that the swift action he mentioned is OU's jump to pac12. Bummer!

Will that get things going? Otherwise I just as well get some actual work done.

This should help tide you over until Boomer brings his real sources. Tweets from Travis Haney, reporter for the Oklahoman.

Yep, that's what he said. By chance, I just happened to hear him say it on his call-in show while scanning the sat radio. Almost got the feeling that he knows something really big is going to happen and he was reassuring the OU fanbase that OU will be just fine. If I didn't know better, I would say they are off to the Pac-16.

Good job! That is exactly what I was trying to do... Post some stupid opinion like OU is bolting for pac12. Of course they aren't but it may get some conversation going.

That's what you were doing, right?

Texas A&M president called Big 12 to discuss leaving conference, source says - ESPN

Texas A&M would prefer to leave the Big 12 and have an announcement about joining the SEC before this season starts to aid with scheduling concerns and to allow the Big 12 to begin the process of adding a replacement, the source told Schad. But it is possible that process could last until the second week of Texas A&M's season, which is a bye week.

Adding one school, at least to start with, is the most likely scenario. The Big 12 has interest in Notre Dame, Arkansas, BYU or TCU, a source within the conference confirmed to Schad, though Notre Dame and Arkansas are considered unlikely.

Didn't know TCU was in the mix...Wonder if we'll be looking at this thread for another 2 weeks?

I really could see A&M holding off until early next week since it is a bye week for them IIRC. Try to keep the focus on this weekend's game.

Miller and Brinson had a guy on today that said the same thing.(AggieYell guy I think) A&M is gone its a matter of time

Sounds like they're just trying to be tightwads. They are gone, but they are saying, "we will let this drag on for however long we want to and drag the Big 12's name through the mud some more,"...or you can let us off the hook for 1/2 of the exit fees and promise not to sue us and we'll be gone tomorrow.

I say the Big 12 votes to increase exit fees to $1 billion immediately. That will help them make their decision as long as they are part of the conference. See how big of tightwads they are when that hits.

Hmmm. What is the holdup? TAM has been planning the conspiracy for a year. Are they getting cold tammy feet? Can they pay their bills in the end? Are they going to regret it after the end of the season? Does the SEC really want them or were they after someone else all along? Were they just jerking Tammy's chain? If Alabama gets less money, why do they need TAM? Maybe the threat of lawsuit after the Fox contract going kaput is a huge deterrent. Maybe TAM and SEC could be sued for a couple hundred million. That is why we cannot add new members yet. Maybe those southern lawyers are cranking it up and smelling a tammy payday.

And this is why I haven't posted anything in about a year. One post stating what I heard and my personal thought and then someone jumps all over me. Whatever...

People can say all they want, but I'm still not 100% convinced all 9 final votes are accounted for in the SEC. I know people would say that isn't logical for A&M to go through with all of this without assurances, but this whole situation from them isn't logical.

That, and I'm not convinced either that the Big 12 is just going to say, "yes, we won't sue you even though our $1 billion fox contract was just voided because of you. As long as you pay your $20 million, we'll brush that $1 billion under the rug and wish you well for finally leaving. Forget the lawsuit."

I saw some smoke on the Pac-16 earlier as well and that was my thought when Stoops talked about the championship game. Between BYU having several comments out there that indy is the way they feel they should go and are happy with it, plus OU starting to speak a bit differently about the situation you have to wonder if that isn't starting to creep back into the picture, regardless of how "committed" the other 9 schools are.

I don't think anybody really knows what OU is thinking. Sure seems like they've been pretty committed to making this work, but things can change too. If I were them I'd at least give the Big 12 a shot for a while. What's the rush to head west. That offer will ALWAYS be out there, but once you blow up the Big 12 there is no going back. The worst that could happen is you stick with 9 teams for a year or two to show everyone that things are working and keep talking to other schools the whole way until they are convinced. There is no reason to rush into playing on the west coast all of the sudden because that option will never go away.
