BXII replacement(s) for A&M will be announced pretty much simultaneously as A&M's addition to the SEC IMO.

This whole thing is scripted for mutual best interests and no lawsuits.

Yep. I think OU honestly wants to bring in teams that would bring the conference back to where it needs to be, but if it can't be done, theyre prepared to go west.

Exactly. They're building a contingency plan, and they should be doing so. I'd assume we're all doing the same.

But priority #1 is bringing the Big 12 back up. OU will always have the Pac waiting for them. Try to make the Big 12 work, and if no one will join, then you move on.

Honestly, for the Big 12's sake, our best hope is for the Big East to get raided so Notre Dame has to find a landing spot for their Olympic sports.

That being said, I wish no ill will to any conference because it sucks being in this position.

Yeah. I think this is the most likely scenario. No official announcements of Big 12 expansion until A&M is officially in the SEC.

This is probably the way I'm leaning, if I were to guess how it unfolds. I'm a little concerned because there are numerous things that could blow up any deal, and I'm sure that at a minimum, OU, Okie State and Mizzou have back up plans that are set.

With all that said, if the numbers for our new TV contract remain, the best possible solution for everyone involved is to stick with the B12.

I have no doubt KU and MU are being proactive members, Mizzou once again has been voicing their opinions.

I hope the Big 12 Conference holds a huge press conference (assuming top teams are recruited) within the same hour to steal TV coverage. ESPN will cover our announcement and A&M would be ******.

This tweet pretty much confirms that OU and the P12 are talking:

Twitter

Adding non-AQ schools (except for BYU) devalues OU's revenue share which is why they would go for the P12.

As you say, swapping BYU for A&M is not a negative financial hit. It may even provide MORE money for the conference if they're successful and bring a new market and national following.

UCF could add as much as it takes in the long run, no one can pretend to know what that move would provide 5-10 years down the road. Could be a home run or a dud.

The possible options for #12 besides Notre Dame probably would take more than they give, but they would still add financial value in terms of brand identity and stability.

I can't understand the desire to be in a Pacific centric conference for Texas, OU, OSU, Tech/KU/Mizzou.

From a logical perspective, look at a map, it makes no sense. It makes a current Tech to Ames trip seem like a quick jaunt. Not to mention playing games in 3 different time zones would be an obstacle.

I think it's more of a fear the Big 12 is done. If you listen to the national sports guys there's not one that seems to think the Big 12 will be around in the future. OU and Texas can wait it out because they are the prize positions not in the Big 10, SEC, PAC or ACC. If anybody else would get an offer from one of those conferences they will jump on it. In a perfect world you would have conferences based on geography and none would get any bigger than 12.

I think some are making the mistake of determining a teams value based on it's current conference.

I think the cache of being in a AQ conf would boost any schools tv draw and popularity.

I would also think any school we'd get would get a boost in recruiting from kids who want to play in a bcs conf an play the big schools on a regular basis.

Interesting. So in that case I'm assuming Texas would walk as an independent leaving ISU, KSU, Texas Tech and Baylor looking for homes? Seems like an opening for the Big East then to add a western division to pair w/ TCU. Would they pick us all up (going to an odd 13) with the assumption that one current Big East team would be poached by the ACC if/when the SEC takes one of their teams? What a cluster **** house of cards this whole thing is.
We might settle for SMU and Houston as our new Texas classmates at that point.

Why don't we just merge the Pac 12 and Big 12? The Texas schools could split up te revenue from LHN (80% to UT) due to ESPN contract constraints.

Actual their travel wouldn't be all that different. If OU, OSU, Tech, and Texas were to be in the PAC then they'd likely form the basis of a Western Division along with Colorado, Arizona, and ASU. So five of those schools would be the same as they're used to and Arizona / ASU aren't far away.

Not that I'm pushing this or anything. I certainly want the Big 12 to stay together.
