Of course, no mention at all of ISU in that article. Mizzou, KU, and KSU are all mentioned because the Big East has shown interest in them. But not us.

This is not looking good at all folks. The MWC might be our best option when all is said and done, and I'm not even sure they will be interested.

Mizzou and KU are gone to other BCS conferences if Texas goes ACC.

Well, if Chip Brown is indeed right, ISU could be in the Big Ten under this scenario:

Pac 16 takes OU and OSU

ACC takes Texas, Rutgers, UConn and Syracuse

That leaves the Big Ten to finish off the Big East by snatching Pitt and forcing ND to join, leaving 2 spots open.

The Big East might be able to survive losing Syracuse and Uconn. It would obviously hurt basketball but that isn't what this is all about. And Rutgers is replaceable.

I see Pitt as one of the flagship schools in that conference. Losing them would hurt -- major market, solid football and basketball, good recruiting grounds. If Pitt were to stay in Big East, I think they could still have just as good of a conference with B12 castoffs. If they were to bolt, the Big East is dead.

Thank God Pollard is so quiet, cagey and smart. Otherwise I'd begin to wonder if we are screwed!

Really not worried about Chip's article, it probably has some truth to it but also wreaks of Texas propaganda. If the BE is talking to K State, I can't imagine we are not being talked to as well. KSU really has no advantages over ISU if you look at it one on one. If fact, I think if it came down to ISU or KSU, most neutral observers would take ISU.

I am worried though, none of this is good for us clearly.

Texas and OU have created a situation for the other 7 schools that leaving is not as good an option as staying if they can stay together, after posting at least a dozen times in this thread and reading the other 7,069, I am convinced OU decided to make a power play with Texas and demand some concessions on the Network deal, Texas said no and OU is following through with their threat, seems Texas still holds the cards and OU's best option is still to stay but only if Texas meets the demands, A&M made their Play Texas said no and now they appear to be gone except nothing has been announced on where they are going?? OU fills up the airwaves with we're headed West and Texas still is saying nothing, Texas can still save this but only by showing some serious humility...if OU and Texas want to stay together, it makes sense for that to be in the Big 12.

I don't see it happening. For the B12 to survive we have to add members. After these past 3 days, the B12 looks more unstable than ever and I think it would be impossible to attract quality programs (if they haven't said no already).

I've said all along that the B12 could have survived the Nebby loss had they shut their damn traps and spent a few seasons showing commitment to the conference. All they had to do was sit pat for a few years, rake in GOBS of money, quit the internal ******* matches and flirting with other conferences, and they would have been able to attract/poach some quality programs to increase their payday when their Tier 1 rights came up.

But apparently that's too much to ask of the Texas schools.

Right now I'm sitting back, and not worrying. There's nothing we can do about it...we just need to be positive and trust in JP.

They are being mentioned because *one* media member mentioned those three. One who likely got his info through KC sources, who would be most concerned with those 3.

"Journalists" just assume we are screwed just like last year. Last year we had an invite to the Big East.
No doubt in my mind that Jamie is wheeling and dealing. He is a great salesman also.
No reason to freak out quite yet.......

But it appears that if OU and Texas stay, then no other team will be able to leave. Missouri has had a few dates, but apparently it wasn't good enough to get a ring. In Chip's article it says OU and Texas met again today, hmmm...to talk about sticking together? If they stick together, they will stay where they are. No one butA&M leaves if they stay, maybe it just prolongs the agony, but Texas and OU are strong enough brands to make their own way...

So when's the 11th hour deal going to happen that saves the conference and it ends up in a stronger position?

I guess it COULD happen. But we'd obviously be living on borrowed time. No one will want to join us, and we'll just continue to get picked apart over time. A 9 team league wouldn't get a huge payday, we'd need to grow...and I doubt we're attractive to anyone right now :)

My $.02 anyway.

Agree, we might be screwed, I don't know. I am however reasonably certain that compared to anywhere else there are very few people that actually know what is going on at ISU. Culture is like that and it is frowned upon from the top. It follows then that there are less people to blab about who has or who hasn't contacted us. Which then leads to a lot of people thinking all across the spectrum from screwed to not screwed. In my opinion there are just less true insiders on real big issues like this at our particular university. Interesting times indeed.

Fans are totally irrelevant in this. A&M isn't leaving because of "Political pressure" and neither would Oklahoma.

Also, they haven't "Gone too far". All that's happened officially is a couple remarks from Oklahoma reps.

I mean gone too far for the fans. It seems as if most are ready to bolt and don't want to stick around. How popular do you think the decision to stay would be? You don't think that all those yahoo aggie fans screaming to "SECede" put any pressure on the president of a&m? Christ, I got tired of hearing about it and I am in Iowa. I imagine that everywhere the pres went, some crazy ***-hole would be asking him about the SEC.

I am not saying that it is THE reason but I do think the constant cries from the fans influenced things. There was a rumor about a donor paying money to get them into sec. Maybe none of that happens if they didn't flirt with them so hard last year?

As we all know, message boards can influence decisions (for better or worse).

What exactly is UT supposed to do?

Chip Brown didn't mention ISU, therefore we are doomed. Yep, that was my conclusion. NOT.

Don't overreact to every news article. Two reasons why ISU is not mentioned:

1. Chip Brown doesn't care about us.
2. GG and JP are not talking to the media or anyone for that matter.

when do OU and Texas play? There is your answer, the week of the game, they pledge their loyalty to each other and the rivalry...ESPN cashs in all week on breaking the news to get back some of their fools ls gold given to Texas, OU gets games on a New Big 12 Network that replaces the LHN (IE The Texas-OU Network).

Vodka is a more creative juice, Beer is depressing, I highly reccommend trying Vodka to lighten your load in this madness...
