To be contrarian, I recall a recent A&M game in Ames. They were well discipline fans in the SW. They had organized cheers and were louder than all the home crowd.

They were probably also winning. Hard to cheer when you're getting your *** kicked. Hey Utah was also louder than the home crowd. They didn't have gay male cheerleaders though.

Hopefully we get a chance to test this theory by kicking aggie's *** this year!

Funny to me some say A&M to SEC is only about money. See the crowd & atmosphere last night at MSU? You don't get that at Iowa State. #mysa

Funny, I watched that game last night and thought the crowd was lame. When the MSU coach has to wave his arms to get the crowd to make noise, you know you're in trouble. Take away the cow bells and there's little fan noise at all.

I always thought artificial noise makers were illegal at college games. Is that just a school's decision on them?

I think the biggest takeaway from this humongo thread is that twitter is completely worthless ... a bunch of idiots making stuff up and announcing it like they are "in-the-know".

@AlexBerngard Yep, I missed that Big 12 showdown between Iowa and Iowa State! I've been to Ames many times. Horrible when Ags have come.

When? In 2008 when were were 2-10 (0-8)? And there were still 45,495 at Jack Trice in late October?

I need a new hobby.

On a dark Utah highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of potential riches, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw the Big 12’s light
My Mormon was heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There Bebee stood in the doorway;
I heard the Big 12's bell
And I was thinking to myself,
’this could be heaven or this could be hell’
Bebee lit up a candle and he showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Big 12 conference
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Big 12 conference
Any time of year, you can find it here

Bebee’s mind is tiffany-twisted, he got the mercedes bends
He got a lot of pretty universities, that he calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, except for Baylor, of course.
Some dance to remember, some dance to divorce

So I called up the commissioner,
’tell me where do I sign?’
He said, ’we haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine’
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Big 12 conference
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the Big 12 conference
What a nice surprise, until you hear the lies

Big Fox TV contract,
The pink champagne on ice
And Aggie said ’we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’
And in the Long Horn’s chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab at Bevo with their steely knives,
But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I tried to reclaim my independence
You know, the place I was before
’relax,’ said the commissioner,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!

It was lame. Just like dimhammer's blog. Even small schools build new faciilities. So our videoboard is one of the largest ion the nation. We are using it as a windbreak for our kickers.

I remember that game. Weather was terrible. 45,000 tickets might have been sold but there probably wasn't 10,000 in the seats in the second half. Weather is big issue that the SEC doesn't have to deal with. You put Mississippi State in that same situation and their fans wouldn't have even showed up. I actually want A&M gone at this point, but we can't lose the OK schools. If they go, patching this conference up would just be a joke.

Wrong game, it was beautiful, unseasonably warm. Iowa State didn't punt and lost by a couple touchdowns. Good crowd.

I think the delays from A&M and OU are all just to keep their players, coaches and fans safe till after the football season is over. If A&M or OU were already gone and Baylor, KU, KSU, and/or ISU ended up not in BCS conferences, then when they rolled into town, I would not at all be surprised if pretty significant violence was directed at them. In fact, If I were A&M/OU and even UT, coming in to Manhattan or Ames, I would ask that the state patrol have at least double the normal convoy for my team bus this year.
