When are these meetings scheduled for? Sorry if it's posted somewhere in this thread, but at the rate this thing grows, I could go back 10 pages to look and never get caught up.

OU - Monday
Texas - Monday 2hrs after OU

Regularly scheduled meetings:
State of Iowa - Tuesday
State of Kansas - Wednesday & Thursday

Everything seems to be falling into place for five 14-team conferences.

Pac-14 with OU and UT.
ACC with 'Cuse and Pitt.
SEC with A&M and West Virginia.
Big Ten with Rutgers and Missouri probably.

There would be a Big 12/Big East leftover conference consisting of:

Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Louisville
Cincinnati
South Florida
UConn

Note that this conference, still meeting the minimum requirements for the Big 12 (5 members sticking around and at least 8 teams) would retain that conference's BCS bid... and the 6 schools sticking around would get to split 4 shares of exit fees.

Have to imagine that conference would add three mid-majors (maybe BYU, maybe ECU, maybe UCF, maybe Houston) and we would have five 14-team BCS conferences. Big East would be done.

***Keep in mind that if this happened, and down the line we moved towards four 16-team conferences (which could be as early as a year later...), the Big Ten would then have three options for two slots in Iowa State, Kansas, and Notre Dame, and we would certainly be their third choice. We would have to root hard for ND keeping independence and/or joining the Pac-16 as has been reported. If ND does not join the B1G... we could slide in there.

BTW, if the ACC takes Rutgers and the B1G is forced to 16, we will be in the B1G. I don't see them going KSU over us and to me the only logical 16 are the ones stated above... KU, MU, ISU, ND. If ND doesn't join a conf, which I don't think they have to because the only time they would be hurt is if there is a playoff system created from the 4 super conferences (which won't happen), then maybe even KSU but academics are a big question mark on that one. If KU has the option to go B1G and is held back by KSU, there will be hell to pay.

Re: Big XII needs a New Commissioner

This is what makes me doubt that anyone is serious about keeping the Big 12 around. The schools should be clamoring for a new commissioner, but aren't. then again, who is going to take the job?

Huh? What are you talking about? The Big East said we contacted them about possibly joining if the Big XII fell apart. That doesn't make us look stupid at all. Trusting that the conference will stay together is what would make us look stupid.

I agree totally, but we are not exempt from waffling either. We SHOULD be looking for a new home proactively in preparation of the stupidity but we werent above the fray here.

The Big 10 isn't going to go to 16 for the sake of going to 16, I don't think. I still think the only way we get a Big invite is if they are at an odd number and we are the only viable school left.

Totally agree. The b10 won't be forced to do anything. It took them something like 15 years to add one team to get a conference championship game. I don't think they feel there is a team that would be untouchable for them - new acc or not. If they wanted Maryland in 2 or 3 years, I think b10 is arrogant enough to think they could get them.

Who says that ISU isn't

Damn it I missed the ...n't on the end of 'were'. Sorry. fixed it.

We are NOT above the fray. In fact I hope we are the scrappiest ones in this fight. The FB team is and I have a feeling the BB team will be to. But we have lots of people and history(FB winning) working to keep us out. Otherwise if normal circumstances were in play our school would no doubt be picked up.

While I like your opinion, that conference would not retain a BCS bid. Along with that, it's unlikely that exit fees would be paid since the future of a conference minus OU and UT is unlikely. I think your conference design is likely which would be great for us. We would be in the highest 2nd-tier conference with money similar (maybe a little less) than what we are getting now, and we'd be even more competitive for championships.

Re: Big XII needs a New Commissioner

What exactly is the commissioner going to do when OU is sabotaging the big 12 from within? If everyone minus TAMU was on board even beebe could round up a few big east teams to invite.

Then we have nothing to worry about. Because if it doesn't go to 4 16 team conferences, there will be a place for us.

4 16 team conferences is the ONLY way we may not have a seat!

Don't you try bringing logic into my demand for a sacrificial goat!
