I'm not making claims....I'm stating opinions. I'm no more informed than anyone (and I've never claimed to be)....and to say that I have no right to change my opinion given the events that occurred between May of 2010 and June of 2011 seems a bit stringent to say the least.
Sure you did, you claimed you never put ISU in the MAC, etc.

That is a very recent opinion, earlier this morning, not from a year ago.

You are entitled to your own opinion. You are not entitled to your own facts.

Don't we have other threads for rivalry stuff?

I love rivalry trash talk, but this thread is finally derailing for it.

#Texas Prez Powers tells AP stability in Big 12 is top priority and Longhorns don't want turmoil every year. "no preconditions" on league.

#Texas Prez Powers also says Texas will work "with media partners to structure something that's stable for the Big 12."

#Texas Prez Powers suggests to AP that revenue sharing an option for Texas and Big 12. Says that was "never" off the table.

Seeing the ***** fest between a couple of you and hawkfan reminds me of the ******* contest UT and OU are having. Get over it, all of you. Nobody cares and some of us just want updates on potential conference information, not listening to people ***** about what someone said a year ago.

That is why I put "might" in quotes. Will SEC change their minds if Big 12 stays together? Will they try to get WVU or Louisville quickly before both join Big 12?
It appears the SEC/Slive plan was to steal Mizzou all along after the implosion. WVU was just a diversion like all good commished have.

It is Wednesday and Tam may or may not be joined at the bustop by her good bud MO.

Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe's job status is tenuous, source says - ESPN

Things still staying the same............

The source said the decision to add BYU as the 10th member to replace departing Texas A&M will rest with Texas and Oklahoma. BYU needs to be ensured that the league is stable before leaving its football independence and the West Coast Conference, which also took in the Cougars when they needed a home for its other sports.

I don't know guys.........how about you let all of the schools have a say in this? Watch all this crap hit the fan again next year.

Kind of amazing isn't it. At the slightest sign of life, we all of a sudden turn into the vultures we've been complaining about all along in this thread. This is exactly why it looks so gloom for us outside of the Big XII.

I think you misinterpreted that. I took it as meaning UT and OU have to show they want to be in and stay with the Big XII to show BYU that there's stability and it's worth coming over. I don't think they meant UT and OU will actually get the only yes or no votes to let them in.

Not to nitpik or anything but doesn't #5 need to happen BEFORE you or anyone else can become commissioner? Oh and I think most people here would agree the LHN cannot exist in any way shape or form as it is for this to go forward.

It was buried in here somewhere but the reason that OU got ****** and threatened to leave was because after the LHN was over-ruled and told they couldn't broadcast HS games (to build up UT recruiting) UT/ESPN changed their policy all right. Instead, they were going to have ESPN camera crews cover HS games featuring the recruits UT was after and instead of showing the entire games ... they would only show the HIGHLIGHTS !!!! (which of course would feature the recruits UT was after and put those recruits in the limelight by getting them on TV; but only the HIGHLIGHTS like when they made great catch or scored a TD or got a sack, the rest of the game where they did next to nothing would be edited out of course, because the NCAA wouldn't stand for that).

We can never trust UT again. You get them to agree to something and they will just figure out a way to weasel out of it and pad their own pockets. If the B12 is going to have stability the LHN has to go. Call it a B12 network and share the revenue but if its called the LONGHORN NETWORK featuring the TEXAS LONGHORNS it will be an unfair advantage to the TEXAS LONGHORNS forever. That's was OU was ****** about.

This little fact was leaked out by you know you; its about 1/2 way down the page.
Orangebloods.com - Attempt to save Big 12 will be its Hail Mary or last gasp
Yeah, but remember that our real friend is David Boren who put himself out there to every decent conference. Powers is the fiend/friend aspiring to keep the LHN. Denton is the good faith negotiator who was tempted by the devil. Scott is the optimistic schemer without the support of the university presidents. Delaney is the banker and counting change before he deals. Slive is the slippery weasel trying to implode the competition.

So at this point, is it pretty much agreed that the Big 12 will need to pull apart the remainder of the Big East to sustain itself for now?

That would be my read on the situation. The Big East is currently in panic mode....conferences can take advantage of that "aura of fear" to gain new members (Big Ten/PAC did it last year to the Big 12, SEC did it this year to the Big 12)......I see the Big 12 now doing that to the Big East.

I think the schools that would make the most sense would be Louisville, Rutgers, & WVU if the Big 12 could convince them to join.

Another interesting possibility would be to add USF & UCF - solidifying a foothold in the Florida TV markets (though I do wonder if market penetration would be an issue).

I think the most likely scenario would be BYU, Louisville, & WVU.
