I'm not scared of playing Drake... don't overreact... it'll be ok. Imagine if you were a UCLA fan today?
UCLA has two losses at home and is a bad team.

I think fans were taking our game play last nioght and pretending how it will work in future games. It will not be a winning approach. Do we have anyone who can drive the lane at this point? Last year we had the privilege of watching one of the best lane drivers of all time at ISU. DG covered up a lot of our other weaknesses.

Haverhill is not a troll. He has some very valid points there. I strongly disagree that we should stop playing Drake though. Bottom line is losing to Drake is unacceptable and we shouldn't be having this conversation right now.

I dont think we should stop playing them, but i think we should stop playing home and homes. Look around the big 12 schedules, there are very few away games at teams like drake, much less regular home and home series, which are extremely rare, and even further less have two of these series against midmajors.

And, fwiw, we were having this discussion the past few days in some other threads, before the loss. It just doesnt make much sense for a major conference team to have not just one but two regular home and home series with midmajor teams.

I suppose you also think we should only play Iowa in Iowa City in football. Playing in our small stadium doesn't prepare them to play at Michigan or Nebraska. Maybe if we ask nice they would gives a two for one deal. (do I need the sarcasm pirate?)

Nope, our stadium holds more people than Minnesota and Northwestern, and is comparable in size to Indiana, Purdue, and Illinois. Good try.

Hey I know. Let's stop playing basketball altogether. That way, no one can beat us. Imagine how many years our undefeated streak could go!

Yeah, no. We're nowhere near the top of the BCS, but we have comparable stadium size to a lot of BCS teams, especially big 10 and pac 10.

So if your theory is just about the size of the venue, it seems like you want us to lose to a team like Drake in front of a larger crowd?

Makes perfect sense.

Good teams win no matter where they play. Maybe we are not as good as people thought or Drake is better? Maybe we just played like crap.

STOP playing @ DRAKE......

Now you sound like Ia State basket ball coach Johnny Orr, who made the same statement after we lost to DRAKE in Veterans Memorial Auditorium....

Drake wins by nine over Iowa State...Now you know why neither Kansas or K-State will play Wichita State....

The Time has Come???..........maybe someone will do a POLL on this Issue !!

Its not just about that, that was all i was addressing in that particular response.

Again, how many teams do you see engaged in regular home and home series with midmajor teams? How many teams have two of these. We are a major conference program, we should be scheduling like one. Why should we be subsidizing drake with one of the most valuable games of their season (at $28 a pop)?

Didn't realize all the scaredy cats we have in our fan base.

Guess what we are going to have to learn how to play on the road eventually, and it's not like we can just call up Izzo or Krzyzewski and ask for a home and home either.

The point is, every-time Iowa loses to ISU at JTS, there fans start talking about how they shouldn't be playing in Ames anymore. Its a complete over-reaction and a pansy *** solution to the problem.

Its a tradition in the State of Iowa, and I want no part of being the reason it stops.

I agree, I never really thought about it much, but playing at the Knapp center seems kinda weird. I think it would be a weird venue for those who are used to playing on a bigger stage.

As others have mentioned I wouldn't mind doing a neutral site game every year at wells fargo, or doing some arrangement like home/neutral.

Also those comparing Kinnick vs JTS, it would be a fair comparison if JTS held 35k, and only got 25k people to show up on the day of the Iowa-ISU game.

Not a fair comparison at all.

Yup.Probably even moreso, for your example you'd have to have about half of those 25k people be hawk fans. About 5000 there a good number of which of which were cyclones, in hilton it wouldve been 14-15k.

I was nearly the first person to post on this thread, but thought better of it. I knew you guys would just say the same thing I was going to say. And...you did. But no, I won't go posting these threads anywhere. :D

Using your theory playing at the Knapp Center should help us adjust to the huge crowds that Texas Tech and next year TCU have.

I like playing Drake. Give Drake kudos. They played a great game. We didn't. Drake won. ISU needs to learn from the loss. Make your damn FT's. 63% from the line killed us. Make your damn shots. 36.8% FG's killed us. Identify the shooters and play defense. Drake shot 50% FG's. Congrats to Drake on a well deserved win. They deserved it.
