This is good point. They just need to find a way to keep spacing on the perimeter while having Royce out there. They could maybe play Babb inside which would take away his outside shooting, or else play Gibson, Ejim, and White, and have Ejim guard the 3. There's no easy solution in my opinion. You have to keep the spacing.

Our lack of size really does limit our options. We need to space, hit some skip passes, occasionally penetrate, and get some cuts (back) to attack the zone. If we simply rely on slowly passing it around the perimeter it will result in a lot of attempted 3s and if those aren't falling we'll get run off the court against the better teams. Have a lack of true ballhandlers AND size is a pretty bad combination against a good zone.

I think if any good coach saw this game, he'd press the crap out of us and play zone until we showed we can beat it. After tonight I'm not so sure we could, either.

Is it just me or does anyone else hate when ISU goes into the slow-down offense to consume time? I know it may be necessary later in the season, but I think it takes this team totally out of their stride, and they are not very good at it.

Just let the game play out and bury the other team. Stop trying to "protect" the lead and take time off the clock.

Agreed. It's like watching a Dan McCarney football team.

Again, I say as soon as we start playing lazy call a damn timeout and chew some ***. Bench anyone who screws up. The last 3 minutes is a joke, and not just because I have ISU -9.

This was my biggest complaint last year against Fred. This team was horrible at closing out games and a big reason for that was a complete lack of utilizing timeouts properly. We'd have an 8 point lead and have 1-2 sloppy plays at either end that should have necessitated a timeout. Instead Fred would wait until the game was virtually tied and the damage was almost done.

I hate Kentucky and Calipari with a passion but he's one of the best at this. Most coaches wait too long, but he has no problem calling a timeout after a team starts a half on a 4-0 run even WITH a big lead. He understands that basketball is a game of momentum and it often starts early in the run. When you sense it changing you call a TO, refocus your team, and thwart the opposition's momentum. I'd like to see Fred take a similar stance.
